For the Marlins, that was a great trade, a steal even, for the Yankees that was a trade for the sake of trading, and was probably the worst trade they have made in many, many years, (though the Claussen for Boone trade could come back and bite them very soon).Comment

At the time, they still had Brosius who was coming off a very good year in '98, and was obviously going to be their 3rd baseman for a few more years. Lowell had done all he could at AAA, so they basically were doing him a favor when they dealt him. At the time, Yarnall was a top prospect. Hindsight is 20/20.....Comment
