San Diego has a very good chance to surprise a lot of people and take the division, Arizona is good, but after Johnson and Webb they don't have much in the way of starting pitching, the Dodgers may only give up 2 or 3 runs a game, but they may also have trouble scoring that many runs as well, the Giants have question marks about there pitching, it is unsure right now how healthy Jason Schmidt and robb nen are going to be, and they have little protection for Barry Bonds, making his job a lot harder, and the Rockies are the Rockies, you never know where they will finish.

Key for the Pads, is the young arms continue to get better, and their sluggers stay healthy.Comment

Re: NL West
San Diego's key to winning the division relies mostly on the young arms, Lawrence, Eaton, and Peavy. Basically it's the pitching that'll get use there, the Offense is set. Probably one of the strongest lineups in baseball. Barring any injury to the core players (Nevin, Giles, Klesko, Hoffman, etc.), the Padres should be able to compete in the division for the first time since 1998.
But then, the Giants are still the team to beat so they have my vote.Comment

Tough to call, but I'm with Sportsman TO in picking the Dodgers. They have the best pitching staff in the division and if Green hits 30-45 homers like he did a couple of years ago, they'll be fine...

Bear in mind the Tigers scored more runs than the Dodgers did last year, and the Dodgers big addition to their lineup was Bubba Trammell.
I agree pitching wins championships, but you have to score some runs to win. I don't think the Dodgers have a chance this year.
Giants are still the team to beat in this division until proven otherwise.Comment

Re: NL West
I like the Giants is this weak division. They played over their expectations last year, and I hope they do the same this year. The Padres have gotten a lot better, and they've had the Dodgers' number the last few years, so I don't see the Dodgers doing much of anything.
I'll go Giants, Dbacks, Padres, Dodgers, then Rockies.Comment
