    Not just yet for Nomar

    </font><blockquote><font class="small">Quote:</font><hr />
Jun 8 Shortstop Nomar Garciaparra, expected to return to the Red Sox lineup Tuesday against the Padres, may not be ready to make his 2004 debut. A Red Sox team source told the Boston Globe that Garciaparra seemed ready to extend his minor-league rehab by at least one more game. Nomar met with GM Theo Epstein and other team officials after working out at Fenway Park Monday and told them he would not know until Tuesday whether or not his injured Achilles' heel was ready. "When he's 100 percent ready to play and be activated, he will be," Epstein told the Globe. "[His rehab] may or may not continue based on how he feels after the workout. It's not necessarily going to happen [Tuesday]. It's going to happen when he's 100 percent ready."
Views: Looks like the dreaded game-time decision for Nomar. Even if he's back in the lineup today, expect the BoSox to be extremely cautious, using Pokey Reese and Mark Bellhorn to make certain Garciaparra doesn't over-exert himself upon his return.
