Exactly. Guillen has been an incredible upgrade for the Tigers this year, it's just a shame that people that don't even play for most of the first half, :cough: Nomar :cough: get more votes than he does.

I took notice of the Pirates after that one series with the Padres (too bad the Peavy vs. Perez showdown went downhill because of the umps). No doubt if Perez has some run support he'd have a better record. This is why I was against the Giles trade. Obviously I was one of the few that saw Perez as a dominant pitcher, only reason why he was bad last year is because Greg Booker (now fired) messed him up his sophomore year.

I wouldn't mind seeing him there, but if there's a pitcher going from the Pirates, it might be Jose Mesa. Just a thought. The Wilsons might be the front runners for the Pirates though.

Yep I remember you touting Perez when the trade went through. You got a lot of flack from other SD fans, but man is this guy good. He made some mechanical changes in spring training and now isn't walking people as often as last year. He's also learned how to pitch more effectively. He usually sits around the low to mid 90's most of the game until he really needs to fire one in and then often hits the upper 90's. His slider is also incredible.

With the way Perez is pitching and Bay's hitting, a lot of Pirates media personnel are saying that the Buc's got a steal with that trade. Not to mention Cory Steward (PTBNL) is pitching well in the minors.

Cool, good to hear Stewart doing well. Perez, his problem was with control, but he didn't let it bother him (he had good rookie year numbers), but when it became an issue, that's when things fell off. They tried to make him more economic with his pitch count and told him to not drop down on the sidearm as often (for those who don't know what I'm talking about, Ollie throws 3/4 and sidearm, mixing it up... gives hitters fits, just ask Larry Walker and Todd Helton). Anyways when he was done with his minor league stint last year, he came back and just mowed down teams, having a rough outing here and there. What pisses me off the most is how they traded the guy after saying he's going to be something special .

I think the Pirates picked the better outfielder between Nady and Bay. Nady has career minor-leaguer written all over him (No spot in the outfield, small trade value). Once again, another player the Padres didn't give a chance to, only eight at-bats that year and he had two hits, a home run and a double i believe before one of those d'backs pitchers beaned him, which would put him on the DL.

It's funny seeing those other Padre fans in denial about Ollie. Saying he's still shaky after this year and that he's inconsistant, talk about hypocrisy, they say Eaton is better when he's inconsistant as well.

BTW, I wonder if his agent is still Scott Boras.

Oliver Perez - Mowing people down. If he had any run support his record would be much better.

Urbina wouldn't be bad choice either, too bad he missed the first 3 weeks of the season.
