So Game 162. We could have:

-4 team tie (I think Sox get home field in game 1, Jays get home field in game 2. Yankees choose to be A or B (Mariners get the other letter). Whoever wins Sox vs A and Jays vs B gets the 2 WC spots)

-Jays, Red Sox, Yankees 3 team tie for 2 WC spots (Sox get 1st choice, Jays get 2nd choice in the A vs B where winner advances, loser faces team C for 2nd WC battle)

-Mariners, Red Sox, Yankees 3 team tie for 2 WC spots (Yankees I believe get 1st choice in which game they play, and Sox get 2nd choice)

-Red Sox get 1st WC. Yankees,Jays,Mariners 3 team tie for 2nd WC spot (A vs B where winner gets home field vs C, and winner there gets 2nd WC spot. Jays get 1st choice at which letter they get, Yankees 2nd)

-Red Sox get 1st WC. Yankees,Jays tie for 2nd WC (tiebreak game in Toronto)

-Red Sox get 1st WC. Yankees,Mariners tie for 2nd WC (tiebreak game in NY)

-Yankees get 1st WC. Red Sox, Jays, Mariners tie for 2nd WC (Red Sox get 1st choice, Mariners 2nd)

-Yankees get 1st WC. Red Sox, Jays tie for 2nd WC (tiebreak game in Boston)

-Yankees get 1st WC. Red Sox, Mariners tie for 2nd WC (tiebreak game in Boston)

I think that's it? Sound simple?

Regardless of the other teams, if the Sox win tomorrow they host on Tuesday. Seems simple enough to me.

It's Chris Sale vs a guy making his major league debut.

No defending champion has won as many games as the 2021 Dodgers since the 1939 Yankees, arguably the GOAT baseball team.

Also, unless my searches on baseball-reference aren't comprehensive enough, I think this is the first time in the divisional era where any division has had two teams with at least 105 wins. I'm not even sure any *league* has had two 105+ win teams.

Crazy year with the win spreads throughout the league. Two teams with 105+ wins in one division. Another division with 4 90+ win teams.

              Wild

And the atmosphere in Seattle is awesome. Mariners doing what they've done all year with late-inning heroics

Don't believe any league has ever done that. Most we've had from all of baseball was 2 in a season, and even that was just 1 NL and 1 AL.

And even in the ALE. It's the first time in the 4-6 team divisional era where 4 teams have 90+ wins, only 1 other time in the divisional era has it happened, and that was when the division had 7 teams.

                What a weird season.

Before tonight, the worst run differential for a 90-win team was the 1984 Mets at -24.

The Mariners' current RD is -47.

Hoping for a slightly different outcome this time around.

If you’re the Brewers do you play all your starters and go for the win today? There is nothing to play for but you’re off for four days after today so you don’t really need to rest anyone. I’d be tempted to go for the win and force the Dodgers in to the death match

Never let your foot off the gas IMO. Let your guys get complacent you end up with a $200 million roster fighting for a play in game.

If the Jays win today and the Rays also beat the Yankees today, I won't make fun of the Rays stadium again....as much.

Interesting...teams have already picked their matchups based on diff scenarios.

Yankees opted to face Boston over the Jays should there be a 4 team tie (meaning Jays play Mariners).

Red Sox opted for the road game should there be a 3 team tie between them, Jays and Mariners (so Jays would play in Seattle in gm1, winner hosts gm2 vs Red Sox).

Jays opted for the road game as well should there be a 3 team tie with Jays,Mariners,Yankees (Seattle would play in NY, and winner hosts Jays in gm2).

Jays also opted for gm1 road team vs Boston should there be a 3 way tie between them, Red Sox and Yankees for the 2 WC spots. Meaning they're giving themselves 2 road chances to clinch a playoff spot over just 1 home chance.
