    Re: 2021-2022 Hot Stove Thread

Interested to see what happens with all these players.

Baseball usually has one of the more boring offseasons in sports, but we're about to see all these big signings and possible trades coming in the next few days.

I'm a little disappointed there hasn't been a flurry of moves already...

give it time teams actually have to talk to players first and need a few hours

Tomorrow I am sure it will happen.

This is what an actual FA process is like.

Not the NBA "we're not tampering....we just happened to get a deal done in 57 seconds" free agency.

This weekend will be fun to watch for baseball moves. Anyone being traded or signing a deal has to have it happen this weekend. No way a team or player risks messing with the shortened ST and training camp at this point.

Oh I know, I was half-joking. Would've been cool to hear "CBA signed" then get notifications of FA moves, but I know that wasn't realistic

If the Cubs are actually a favorite, I don’t believe his contract is in the 300 million territory. Not that the Cubs CAN’T do that, It just wouldn’t matchup with recent behavior.

Hope I’m wrong! Was very happy this hit my alerts.

Cardinals sign RHP Drew VanHagen to a 2 year deal. He pitched in Japan the last two seasons

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I think the Cubs idea is to try to sway him into a short(er) term high AAV deal. I dont think they will go up to the 10 years he is seeking, but maybe they can offer a 7ish year deal with an opt out

Could be enticing with the CBA ink still wet. Hard to fully gauge what salaries will look like even next offseason.

Opt out after first year, so he could try to cash in again if he stays healthy
