Between turning down the $100 million offer and declining the $18 million qualifying offer for the year, they really messed up. He could make it back if he has a monster year on a prove it deal, but it’s hard to imagine him on a roster opening day at this point. Kind of funny looking back at the interview Boras did after the season ended when he was saying how much interest he had and how he was the king of queens

I hate the Cardinals but I'm super happy Albert gets a fairwell tour back in St. Louis. Got a close friend/mentor that's a Cardinals fan and he's super excited. I told him that it would be cool to see them all go out together and then 5 years from now go into Cooperstown together.

I wonder if Anthony Rizzo is regretting not taking the Cubs huge contract offer a couple years ago?

I believe the offer was something like 5 years 70 million. At the time it was perceived as a pretty low offer. In hindsight it probably would have been a good value for both sides, but I don't blame him for turning it down. I wish both sides would have negotiated more though, as I think there was definitely a middle ground they could have reached.

There's obviously a lot that's gone wrong for the Cubs since 2016, but it's a shame they weren't able to keep any of the core guys from that team long term (I guess they still have a chance with Contreras, but my gut says he'll be traded at the deadline)

Love it. I’m not sure if this is Waino’s last season but if it is, the Cardinals HOF will have an awesome class in a few years with all 3 going in.

Don't mean to be "that guy" and rain on the parade before it even starts (rotten Cubs fan!), but there is certainly a non-zero chance that Wainwright and Molina aren't voted in on the first ballot....

Molina is for sure getting in on the first ballot

Ummm...there is a good chance, probable I would say, that Wainwright doesn't make it at all.

Pujols is 1st ballot, Molina will get there eventually.

Yeah looking back at Molina's offensive numbers they weren't as bad as I assumed they were. He had some pretty solid seasons especially for being such a good catcher for so long.

Waino is interesting...I think Jon Lester will be an good test subject the year before as they have very similar resumes

Jays sign Dexter Fowler to a minor league deal with ST invite.

Not a bad option for a 5th or maybe 6th OFer.

Apparently he hurt his shoulder in January and has been rehabbing and that really slowed his market down. Boras said today that he is back to full strength now

Especially with the evolution of how we measure framing and other part's of a catcher's game, Molina eventually gets in.

Pujols is a 1st ballot obviously.

Wainwright probably falls off the ballot after a few years. Lester will probably do better, but he's not getting in the HOF either.
