The arm must be getting a little sore from throwing such a tough pitch over the years.

He didn't rely on his curve because he didn't have much on control over it

The conditions in NY were cold and muggy, he wasn't able to get a good grip on the ball, and for "feel" pitchers that's death. Especially when your FB is topping in the high 80's to low 90's

I think the Sox will be fine....Now if they got swept by Toronto then i'd be worried.

I didnt really like the Wells signing but Miller and Clement may actually be more reliable than the Pedro-Clement combo. Wells, though. I can still remember his time in Chicago in 2001...what a tool. Anyway, he seems to only do well when hes with certain teams. Maybe going against the Yankees on the first game is not a good guage but still, I didnt like this signing when it happened and still do not.

There is more reason for worry than people think imo. I didn't notice the impact of the losses of Lowe and Pedro until I heard those stats during the game. Something like Pedro and Lowe combined have the most wins out of any duo in the past 3 years I think. And I do know that I heard that Lowe won all of the series enders.

honestly, that pissed me off. IMO i think they should have let varitek walk and try to sign pedro and lowe.

Pedro also had a 3.90 ERA last year and Lowe had an ERA close to five and a half and both wanted 10 million plus per year to stay in Boston. The Red Sox FO doesn't regret losing both pitchers and neither should the fans.

As a Red Sox Fan, how could you say you'd rather have Pedro/Lowe than Varitek?

That'd be like a Pats fan syaing they'd rather have Ty law than teddy Bruschi.
