Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
So instead of Henry, Cal got another five-star (Bledsoe) and kept another that was never on Memphis's radar (Orton). That's "almost" better than what he had at Memphis?Comment

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
When is the last time a team got three of the top 5 recruits? Not to mention that Cal was going after Bledsoe when he was still at Memphis as well, so they could have wound up with him as well.
Memphis would have wound up with one of the best recruiting classes ever. Kentucky has one of the best in recent memory, no doubt, but I can't see an argument that it is better than what Memphis was lined up to get. It's all irrelevent now, and that wasn't the point of my post anyway. I'm interested to see if Cal can keep all those guys happy and see if he can get them deep into the tournament. It's going to be one talented team, but only time will tell if they can play together and win it all.
*Ok I take that back. I hadn't checked the rankings recently, didn't know Henry had dropped to 8th, but he was still #1 at one point. Either way I'd take #1, #2, #8 over #1, #2, #23 any day.Last edited by cubsfan203; 05-19-2009, 05:26 PM.Fan of....

They also got #22 and #40.
More importantly, they got back an 18 and 9 player, and might get a 24 PPG player. If Meeks comes back, Kentucky would have a better team than Memphis would have had.Comment

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
...and Memphis had #52 and was in the final two for that #23 (probably would have got him considering he went ahead and went to Kentucky to be under Cal).
So you're looking at #1, #2, #8, #23, #52 vs. #1, #2, #22, #23, #40.... Sorry, don't see how I'd be wrong in saying that Memphis' class would have been better. The debate had nothing to do with what team would have been better.
Like I said though, it doesn't even matter. Kentucky will be a top 10 team next year, and Memphis won't make the tournament and will be lucky to finish in the top 3 of their conference.Last edited by cubsfan203; 05-19-2009, 06:27 PM.Fan of....

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
ok, now you guys are confusing me. They would have had Henry, Coleman, and the other Juco kid plus maybe Bledsoe.
Who gives a ****, the important thing is that Cal has handed Kansas a championship for the second time in 3 years.Comment

Yes http://blog.al.com/birmingham-news-s...ic_bledso.html
And as for Bledsoe, most insiders had Bledsoe about to commit to Gillispie before he was fired and since it is an unknown, I really don't think he can be considered in the equation when comparing recruiting classes for Memphis. You can for UK since he did commit there but there was never a verbal or public announcement that Memphis was his leader.#WeAreUKComment

This is just freaking unbelievable with Wall deciding to be a Cat today...never in my wildest dreams would I think the UK program could turn around this fast. I always thought when Gillispie was here Calipari would be the one coach that could turn this program around the quickest, but I never thought he could put together one of the greatest classes of all time in such a short time span.
Which begs the question...why don't more teams run the dribble drive? Recruits seem to be drooling over this system. I realize the system is relatively new, just surprised more teams are not using it."He who controlleths the backboard, controlleths the game." - Adolph RuppComment

7 National Championships
Them not making the Final Four would be the biggest mismanagement of talent since Duke in 2002.UK fans are acting like the National Title is a givin next year. lol
It's certainly possible. They've already got one top 10 player for next year, and they're in the running for 3-4 others.I do understand the excitment but seriously, alot of my buddies are huge UK fans and they are talking about winning 2 or 3 National Titles in a row, STARTING NEXT YEAR!
From the land of opportunity. The wonderful opportunity to transfer to a delightful mid major instead of dealing with the humiliation of getting your scholly pulled. And where is UK getting all of the scholorships for these guys arent they like 3 or 4 over the limit now?Comment
