Re: List of Undefeated Teams (08/09)
Ohio State can play with the best of the Big Ten when they are having a good day but if they play like yesterday I don't think they could be anybody. I don't see many of their players leaving for the NBA this year which would make us one of the best teams in the country. They are also with out their team leader David Lighty which hurts them. I see a trip to the Big Dance for them with a 7-10 seed.ESPN NFL 2K5 GREATEST FOOTBALL GAME EVER!

Re: List of Undefeated Teams (08/09)
UNC might drop one of the following:
@ Duke, @ Wake, and @ Clemson.
Out of those, I'd say @ Clemson is the most likely candidate, since the Tigers play UNC extremely tough.
They'll go undefeated if they make it through those three games.I write things on the Internet.

Re: List of Undefeated Teams (08/09)
They don't play @ Clemson. Clemson comes to Chapel Hill. Where they've never won. Of course, there is always a first time for everything. If anything, Clemson is waaaayyy due.
BTW, only 7 unbeatens left & 3 are in the ACC.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. NixonI always remember that whatever I have done in the past, or may do in the future, Duke University is responsible one way or the other.

Down go the Gophers. 70-58 losers to Michigan St. And then there were 6.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. NixonI always remember that whatever I have done in the past, or may do in the future, Duke University is responsible one way or the other.

Thanks for the correction.
Either way, playing at your best for 40 games is plenty to ask for. An undefeated season is bound to happen though and the conditions (UNC being extremely good in an otherwise crappy year) are ripe for that.I write things on the Internet.

Re: List of Undefeated Teams (08/09)
After the first Monday in April, I'd love for them to have gone unbeaten. But in the season, its way too much extra pressure for a team already just about crowned as the champs. It would do me better if someone, sans dook, beat them before the NCAA's. I can just hear ESPN now. . . "Would this UNC team beat the original Dream Team by 20, or would Jordan & Barkley get them w/in single digits?". . .It'll be absolute carnage on my nervous system.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: List of Undefeated Teams (08/09)
True. I don't think any UNC fan should ever feel that their team has to have a perfect record and win it all. Terrible mindset to have as a fan. It just makes a potential loss in the regular season or in March that much harder. With that being said though, I think they'll go undefeated if they get past Duke at Cameron and @ Wake Forest. The feeling of invincibility has to be incredibly tempting though, especially when reading the 100-75 type box scores and the headlines of "Tar Heels roll again for ____ straight win", etc.I write things on the Internet.

Re: List of Undefeated Teams (08/09)
All this talk about going undefeated stings because of how close we were last year.
Hit free throws down the stretch vs UT and KU and we're 40-0 and National Champs.

Re: List of Undefeated Teams (08/09)
It is tantalizing. I'm as pessimistic a UNC an as you'll find. But I look @ the schedule & I realize it's possible. No matter how much Roy & I try to make the opposition look like juggernauts, the fact is a healthy UNC is going to be the favorite every time they run out on the court.True. Wake is tremendously athleticly-gifted, but they are also very young w/a coach in just his 2nd year. Clemson looks better than first thought, but there's that Chapel Hill anvil still on their back. (They had the game last season vs a hobbled UNC squad. But a Carolina comeback, along w/shady refereeing, pulled it out in 2OT. Even that horrendous 2nd Doherty season saw the Heels beat Clemson @ the Dome for one of their 8 wins.) dook is good. But they still have nothing inside. And have never beaten this senior class @ Cameron. (Of course, I never underestimate this rivalry.)
So it dawns on you this team could be special beyond just the scope of this season. It could be historic. Which means any misstep is going to crush Tar Heel fans' hearts.
And no team should have an expectation of being "perfect". It takes away focus on the next opponent. It makes you forget what got you there. You pay attention to the destination instead of the miles on the journey. You get that feeling of invincibility. And any adversity makes you panic that much quicker.
Until this year, I never understood why people would suggest an unbeaten title contender would be "better off" w/a loss. But I'm beginning to see the logic.
But that's Mr. Glass Half-empty.
That's my fear. I enjoyed the end of '05. But I enjoyed the '06 season so much more. That's because I knew UNC was good enough to win it all in 2005. I was so nervous thinking they'd blow it. But in '06, there were zero expectations. Seeing that team grow & surprise folks made it that much more fun. I treasured every victory. And the losses didn't put me in a funk.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. Never would have said BC could do it. But evidently, give Tyrese some help, & the Eagles can beat anybody.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. NixonI always remember that whatever I have done in the past, or may do in the future, Duke University is responsible one way or the other.
