Re: 2011 Recruiting Discussion Thread
1) I'm honestly not sure about the scholarship situation with UW. Romar always tends to make it work somehow. Elston Turner just transferred, so we might have a spot. I'll have to look at the math. Someone may end up paying their own way as well, but who knows?
2) Both Terrence's are considering UW, yes. Ross might have to go to a prep school or something so he might not get in to any school until 2011, no matter where he commits. I do think that if Terrence Jones chooses UW, we will make room somehow, someway. Same with Ross, I assume.
3) Never, ever, EVER take anything that Tony Wroten says on his Twitter seriously. Ever. He changes his top 5 all the time, and even had Grambling on there once. His top school is always different.Comment

Re: 2011 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Some notes. Take them FWIW, which I don't think is much. I don't believe anyone truly has a clue what Terrence Jones will do.
http://www.allkyhoops.com/2010/04/la...-terrence.htmlIf the report on Jones is accurate, he and Ross are now considering the same schools with Ross also considering Oklahoma and Kansas.
There have been unconfirmed rumors for a few weeks that the two would like to go in a package deal to the same school, but they claim that is not a factor in either decision.
I have talked to several sources tonight that feel both players will end up at Washington, but UK still has a decent shot at Jones. Most believe Ross will go elsewhere.
http://www.zagsblog.com/2010/04/15/t...unce-together/Terrence Jones, a 6-8 forward pictured at left, and Terrence Ross, a 6-5 guard, plan to announce together at Portland (Ore.) Jefferson High School on either April 23 or April 30.
Alas, the hotel couldn't accommodate that request -- they don't have ESPNU -- so Kendall Marshall, the North Carolina-bound point guard, followed the action on Twitter. He had given his followers his predictions for the uncommitted recruits earlier in the day: Knight and Gilchrist to Kentucky, Baltimore point guard Josh Selby and New York forward Doron Lamb to Kansas, Ray McCallum to UCLA, Trey Ziegler to Central Michigan, Terrence Ross and Terrence Jones to Washington.
"Some of those are educated guesses, some aren't," he said, and he was right on the UK kids and Ziegler, wrong on McCallum (he, like Ziegler, stayed home to play for dad, at Detroit), while Selby, Lamb, Ross and Jones remain uncommitted.
Looks like he's going to be wrong on Lamb.

Re: 2011 Recruiting Discussion Thread
UW had an open scholarship this season, plus with the graduation of Pondexter, and the transfer of Turner, UW has 3 scholarships to give out. The 7-footer from JC is one commit, the HSer Desmond Simmons from California is another. So UW has one more scholarship available."You should only drink to enhance your social skills." -Barney GumbleComment

^^^he wants a guarantee that he'll play "significant minutes" as a Frosh and Pitino won't committ to that.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: 2011 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Why is he worried about being guaranteed signficant minutes? He's 6-10, Samuels will probably turn pro next year, he's 6-10, Jennings would be his only significant competition and, that's right, he's 6-10!!! Heck, he'll be fine even if he doesn't play significant minutes...just look at what Daniel Orton did this year! 3 points, 3 rebounds, and 10 goaltends a game and he's being talked about as a lottery pick!

I don't know...just reporting what I've been hearing. Also..Samardo won't be going pro after this season, as he's stated that he'll be here for all 4 years and also with the potential of a lockout...
Samardo, TJ, Van Treese, and Zach Price are all guys that he'll have to compete for minutes with.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: 2011 Recruiting Discussion Thread
countryboy, you hearing anything on Teague? I know Evan Daniels thinks it is 60/40 in Teague's favor over UK which I guess means he is leaning to UL. But with the presser on Thursday (is that even confirmed?) I wonder what the final decision will be?
I know UK and UL are really battling it out for Teague, and I have heard from UK's side of sources that it looks favorable for UK, but you never know. Was curious if you have heard much?#WeAreUKComment

Re: 2011 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Teague appears to be UL bound. As they were discussing the Michael Chandler situation on sportstalk radio, they also were discussing how it appears that Marquis Teague will annouce that he's committing to Louisville between now and the end of this school year.
Now rumors don't mean squat obviously as they are a dime a dozen, but thats the latest scuttlebutt around here. Also..its almost a guarantee(90%) that Chandler will be playing basketball elsewhere next season.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: 2011 Recruiting Discussion Thread
I hadn't heard that about Chandler. I did hear that about Teague from a buddy of mine, this afternoon, but the "info" I heard on Chandler was that it was due to playing time as a Frosh.
Guess they were just being nice since Chandler doesn't appear to be putting in any work in the classroom.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
