Or Thabo Selfolosha and they wanted Durant. And then they know they aren't getting the ball. Yeah, I would quit too lol. But, that's why I don't play random teamups. You'll be the one of the luckiest people in the world to do a random team up and people isn't quitting and actually playing ball.

Re: The Real Problem with "Got Next"
Bottom Line: If it takes more time to get in a game than it does to watch a full episode of Seinfeld, SOMETHING IS WRONG."I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." - Michael JordanComment

Like it or not this thread will still be around 1 year from now when people see, once again, how obnoxious wait times will be and come here to voice their opinion.Comment

Re: The Real Problem with "Got Next"
No one, rightfully, likes waiting. All I'm saying is that you have a mode that has an INHERENT cost. Persistence and continuity == waiting on your game. Otherwise, we are asking for a different mode. Which is fine!Comment

Re: The Real Problem with "Got Next"
There is no inherent cost. It's a contrivance. FIFA and NHL have already shown it can be done without massive waiting times.
1. PvP is instanced in most MMOs so I fail to see your point as they commonly use matchmaking and spawn you in a battle arena. Also I don't play them because of their reliance on the theme park model.I wonder how many of you people that are complaining about waiting to play:
1. Play MMOs like World of Warcraft.
2. Actually, go outside and play for real.
Just wondering.
And tell me how you would maintain a PERSISTENT environment without waiting. Don't say instancing/phasing because the you break continuity. Wrong answer. I'm sure they would love to hear your ideas.
2. Closest court is about two minutes walk from where I live. Guess what I do if the court is full? Go home and play video games.
There's nothing persistent about the park. It's an instance where you spawn at the start of the session and for some reason have to wait to play. In FIFA you persistently play on your club and you have a home arena. That's a lot more persistence than having to squad up every time you start the game since you're so fond of it.Comment

Re: The Real Problem with "Got Next"
The entire Park concept is flawed IMO... No one likes waiting on a spot watching an entire game from the sidelines. Hopefully this entire concept is scraped next year, and Blacktop goes back to matchmaking like it was in the past.Comment

Re: The Real Problem with "Got Next"
This is a ridiculous statement. So the laws of time can be ignored. Terrific. FIFA and NHL don't have this kind of mode where you can walk around and see other people playing in realtime.
Bull****. World PvP is NOT instanced. winter grasp and Tol Barand are NOT instanced. You fail to see my point because you only choose to look at info that support only your narrative.1. PvP is instanced in most MMOs so I fail to see your point as they commonly use matchmaking and spawn you in a battle arena. Also I don't play them because of their reliance on the theme park model.
Then why not apply the same principle here? If you are ok with not playing, then don't play! Go to another mode. Fire up a team up match! Why are trying to force the Park to be something that it's not? What is so hard to understand about this? The essence of the mode is lost if you break the continuity. If people are ok with disappearing from the actual park they were in, that's one thing. But that breaks the illusion. WOW does this with phasing the world boss raids. That's the ONLY way you reduce waits. But the problem in basketball is that people are VERY selective in who they play with. If a brown shirt phases into your team, do you bail? Now you are just phasing in squads. That COULD work. But since this is their first volley into this style of online play, I doubt it's ready for phasing and all the tools needed to do it.2. Closest court is about two minutes walk from where I live. Guess what I do if the court is full? Go home and play video games.
You clearly have no idea what your talking about. The park is a realm. The reason you have to wait is because the court is not open. Plain and simple. How can you play on a court where a game is already in progress? The only way is to team phase to a different park. But the social dynamic of seeing your next opponent, or holding a court for that matter, is lost. There's nothing persistent about the park. It's an instance where you spawn at the start of the session and for some reason have to wait to play. In FIFA you persistently play on your club and you have a home arena. That's a lot more persistence than having to squad up every time you start the game since you're so fond of it.
I'm done arguing about this. Not being belligerent when I say, go play another mode. You clearly don't want this one.
Edit: and the attitude in the post above is the mentality that keeps gaming stagnant. Are you for real?Last edited by Boilerbuzz; 10-03-2014, 08:59 AM.Comment

Re: The Real Problem with "Got Next"
But that's the thing: I don't think anyone wants to walk around in realtime and watch other people play. I said earlier if they gave us something to do during the down time (shoot around on other courts?) then the time would go by quickly. I have played countless games in real life and when I'm waiting for a court to open, I know I go to an open court and shoot around or maybe bring a football and throw it around with others who are waiting. Only when the game is winding down do I and most others watch because we know we're about to run.
And since this is a video game and not real life, I don't want to do the mundane parts. You don't see GTA games force you to gas up your car even though you know it needs it. Don't need to go grocery shopping or do the laundry. No one wants to do that. It's not fun. Neither is waiting around.
If this were typical of other multiplayer games, then no one would complain. But we've all played other games that do this much quicker despite having more complicated environments (Battlefield for example, and I know the latest one had numerous issues but the waiting time wasn't nearly like this.)
We all just want to get to the point: playing the game. I mean if they took out the halftime show because people were skipping it, do they think people wouldn't skip this aspect if they could?Last edited by jr2424; 10-03-2014, 09:51 AM.Does a cheetah stretch before it chases its prey?

Re: The Real Problem with "Got Next"
That's where I'm at. I kind of like some of the advantages of the current system when it comes to The Park (we'll see about Jordan Rec Center games where the waits will most likely be longer), but they need to add something for us to be able to do while we wait. Watching strangers play in a game we don't care about makes the wait that much worse. Let us shoot around, practice dribble moves against our teammates, play 21 ... something. But that's the thing: I don't think anyone wants to walk around in realtime and watch other people play. Re: The Real Problem with "Got Next"
I was very excited this year to link up with my homeboys and play other myplayers in 5v5 at the rec center with refs and nba rules. Every year 2k don't does something that blows me. I really don't have 30 plus minutes to wait to get a 5v5 simulation game in with myplayers. Like whats the reason behind this. Everything is wonderful about this year 2k except the wait in the Jordan rec games. Its no defending this. Your crazy if you rather wait to play then jumping into a lobby with your squad and then get matched with another squad and play right awayComment

Re: The Real Problem with "Got Next"
MyPark should have-
sign up to "get next" on a game - similar to 24hr fitness pickup games
play 21, 1on1, shootaround, dunk contest while waiting for a game
keep the spectator mode
add more courts so there's less waiting
penalize quitters. nothing worse than playing the CPU in a human game mode
add a mode similiar to EASHLComment
