How big of an issue is this actually?
If you look at research on NBA player aging curves, most players peak around 26, decline slightly til 30, and then drop precipitously. How different is this model?
I think what needs tweaking are a few things:
1) which attributes peak, and when--for example it seems skills such as shooting/handle/passing/iq shouldn't decline nearly as rapidly, however athleticism certainly should, rebounding, defense.
2) occasional outliers, such as Duncan, Ginobli, Nash, etc. who find ways to grow as players even into their 30s. These guys are rare, but they're important for adding the element of true great players to myleague/mygm. I'd imagine this could be tied to "all-time great" badge or work ethic badges in some way--not universally but each of those could exert some kind of variable modifier on the player's individual aging curve.
I envision a system where each player has an individual aging curve down to each attribute, and that curve gets modified by things like playing time, injuries, character badges, etc.
