They aren't going to delay the release of the game because a screen hangs too long. This stuff gets pushed to the patches. It's annoying, but I guarantee you there are worse things we'll never know about that were caught.

Seen you say this before, just giving you a realistic view of what the QA process involves....

I doubt it was "put aside". And I say what's in bold because it's multiple things I've seen like this that was never patched. So I wont give them the benefit of the doubt and say they just put it aside. I am sure this will be patched though. If not, it's not that big of a deal.

This is just something that should've been noticed by anyone playing a few MC games anyways.

I would think leaving it in just to get on our nerves would be even harder to believe, lol

All good, just speaking on it since I see that sentence being thrown out all the time, been in on a lot of QA work in my time and I've heard the same complaints- not everything is a snap finger fix, even though It may seem like it.

I am not saying they just left it in on purpose or that it's an easy fix.

It's definitely an annoyance in MyCareer, but sometimes that cutscene will be extra buggy and it at least becomes a bit funny:

Not trying to take sides, or pile on you or anything. But it def looks like something that would be set aside & flagged as a 'fix after deployment' issue.

I say that as a developer, just in a different field. Even the seemingly "easy" fixes can take dozens of lines of code to get squared away, & then countless hours of debugging before you even have anything production-ready for testing -- and if something more urgent comes to light, a decision has to be made.

It seems like the entire timeout/sub routine has some issues. If you factor in your MyPlayer's mouth spazzing out -- still hearing the coach's voice if you button past the scene too quickly -- and the weird loop w/ your matchup after you're subbed in, it looks like they gave us everything relating to those situations w/ some bugs.

Sometimes the best way to give the customers "everything", on schedule, is to deploy/ship with some issues that you really don't want present as a representation of your work, and then dive back into the code later & fix it.

Honestly, I don't care if it was or wasn't lol. It should've been fixed from the beginning. And again, I am not saying it's a easy fix.

I am just not willing to say they put it to the side so it can get patched. We both are assuming. You don't know what they do neither do I. But I can careless. I just feel it should've been noticed and addressed very early on.

Not everything can be fixed on time in software development (speaking as a developer for a tiny game in comparison).

The time that the fix would have taken might have been used to fix something else even more annoying, and addressing it before release may have allowed THAT bug to be released. There are always a ton of "should have been fixed from the beginning" issues in a project of this magnitude that has a hard deadline for release, and Da Czar has shared that 2K has their time budget planned out to the hour. I myself can probably come up with my own list of alternate "should have been fixed" bugs that would have taken days or weeks to address. That's why patches exist.

Now whether patches should come more often and whether there should be some limit per year before 2K gives up and moves on is a different issue.

It seems like it one of those situations, where someone decided, "we spent X amount of resources on creating it, so we're going to force people to at least watch some of it." IMO, that's BS, but it is what it is.

Last time I am going to comment on it because it's not worthy of this much convo and what you guys are saying is irrelevant and what y'all are saying easily make sense if you have some idea about coding and etc at all.

I don't think it was put aside, so the stuff about other things might have been more important and etc is irrelevant to me. Y'all believe (but don't know, just like I don't) that they noticed it and put it aside for more important issues. It's definitely possible, but I don't believe that's what happen.

Actually my theory is that the game is actually loading other portions of the game or doing something in the background when it prevents you from buttoning through. If it isn't then skipping should be enabled earlier.

Only thing I'll disagree with here is the the comment about "this" not being worthy of the convo. If people actually had even a rudimentary understanding of the development process, some of the angst could be taken out of these situations. Only because people would be more aware of why things happen the way they do, and why some decisions were more likely to have been made than not.

Also, coding & programming aren't the same thing. 2K is programmed, not simply "coded."

But yea, this isn't the thread for that discussion. So I'll leave it there.

I can swear this mainly happens when the other team is on a run and you're already pissed off. Miss wide open 3's, get a turnover, opponent knocks 3 while double teamed, coach sits you down, 30 second closeup.
