Yeah that's true for the most part but that's still terrible especially against Warriors users who turbo after a made basket and pull deep 3s with Curry. I either have the defender press him full court, or don't and risk getting torched from deep. The problem with pressing is that a good user knows there's multiple ways to beat the press.

This is DEFINITELY not fixed. I just played a MyTeam game last night and saw this and WAY worse. I'm actually putting clips together now to show because after the game I'm absolutely done with this game, possibly forever.

First I noticed that my PG kept ending up guarding my opponent's center, I thought it was a play causing switching or just general crappy 2K AI, then I paused and looked at the matchups and I saw that for some reason ACE, which should have been off in the first place, decided that my starting and backup PG should guard the opponent's center. WHY? Who knows.

I also experienced the player I was controlling, after I switch off, running way from their man to double team other players who don't have the ball, and are already guarded and not moving.

I also experienced the PG freeze glitch on a fast break. I've always seen it as the PG just getting lost or being on the opposite side the floor for no reason and I can usually move them back in time, but this play was absolutely ridiculous. I almost had an aneurysm. It looked like my player really really wanted to play defense on his man but his feet were just stuck to the floor.

All of this also happened against the worst and most simplistic player I have ever come across who I decided to shut down and went on a 15-0 run to end the first half. Of coarse because this is 2K my team starts running away from their man, every crap layup he took that missed before was now a foul, and he didn't miss a contested shot until he tied the game and I had to blow him out again.

This is next level stuff, only available to those with a keen eye to detail. If you have your ACE on, you must play your part in the defense or you will break the defense as the A.I. Teammates with try to compensate for your being out of position. This advance scouting has made for one of the most ambitious defensive projects in 2k history, so any breakdowns on defense is more than likely user error.
This still makes the most sense. Even now

Is it user error when I control my center to sprint down the floor after a made basket and I look up and my point guard is standing out of bounds instead of matching up? If this was a bug that cost 2K VC sales it would have been fixed within an hour. Instead we have NBA players who not only won't match up after a made basket but actively avoid the guy they should be guarding. It wouldn't be as big a deal if you didn't have cheesers sprinting down the court after every made basket. This is to me the top fix needed for this game.

Yeah that was insanely ridiculous to say. The game has flaws and I can confidently say the devs did not intentionally place these breakdowns in the game on purpose.

I've had ACE off since the 1st night I got 2K17 and that happens multiple times every game, so it can't be ACE lol.

What's really frustrating to me is to have a great offensive possession with multiple passes that leads to a wide open made shot and then the other guy sprints up the court and gets a layup because my guys refuse to get back correctly. I suppose I could do the same as my opponent but I just can't bring myself to play that way. I guess that makes me the idiot. Lol.
