The difference in gameplay quality and AI between MyCareer and other modes like MyLeague are night and day.

Just feels like they want to frustrate players early on as much as possible and make it more likely people will throw down for VC to level the floor.

Re: MyCareer is extremely scripted, not only about storyline

no matter what difficulty or how you play, the CPU shoots too high of a %. Both the other team and your own teammates. I have Marc Gasol and Mike COnley shooting above 50% on threes over a sample of about 30 played games, I have to sim every 5-10 games just to get their shooting percentages down to get it even slightly realistic. These opposing players also won't miss a shot if you are their primary defender: Kawhi Leonard, Tobias Harris, Michael Porter Jr

I don't know what they've done to the game mode but it's not really enjoyable or realistic, even if I sim a season my 74 rated guy wilkl inexplicably shoot 55% on field goals so I have to go in and shoot 0-100 for a game to once again get his percentages even slighly realistic, your players simmed stats will also resemble whatever user-controlled statline you have put up in previous games. So my first game I went 26/13/13 with 4 blocks or something and simmed the next 10 games to test what would happen and those were my exact averages over those 10 games. Once again, they've done some funky stuff with this mode that makes it very tedious and unenjoyable for players that require realism to stay motivated

Re: MyCareer is extremely scripted, not only about storyline

So I did a test with my PG going up against Kyrie. Now I know it's Kyrie, but they ran this SAME EXACT PLAY 6 times in the course of one half.

And every single time, he made this exact same 3 pt shot. Kyrie comes off the pick, gets the pass, then he sidesteps to the right and shoots the 3..and made it every time.

I'm not making this stuff up. The experience in MyPlayer is about as scripted as you can get.

        It's not "get good bro".
        It's not "lower the difficulty".
        It's not "I'm seeing things".
It's not "you're just bad at the game".

There's an issue and some of the people here just don't see it or they refuse to acknowledge it. The 3pt shot in this video is an AUTOMATIC make and I've played just about 55 games now for the Timberwolves. It's also not just Kyrie...it doesn't matter who is shooting.

Do you guys know if you have to unlock more facial hair options or something? I only see the same 4-5 face hair options that were in the prelude...
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

This isn't the thread for this, but -- go to the barbershop in the neighborhood.

Does the story part end once you hit the NBA?

For the first created player yes - with various cut scenes to give you perks and inform you of things like an increased role on the team.

With any created player after that, you can skip the main story from the start and jump into free agency 2018.

I honestly think no one will change their minds on this topic.

The only true hope is for the offline and online modes to be totally separated and sim friendly upgrades to the offline modes to be done more consistently.

The online people are concerned with steal-spamming and other "cheese" that induces changes that directly harm the offline players' enjoyment while offline sim players don't need to spam steal and never encounter issues like this.

Perhaps ScottOG will convince the MyCareer team to make screens less sticky so the human defenders can contest the 3-point attempts in the future - but until offline is separate from online this won't change.

I hear you, but I don't mind the tough screens. I just don't want the shooter to make an automatic 3pt'er every time he comes off the screen. Even Curry and Klay miss 3's. I'm not saying they shouldn't make them, but if I showed you Kyrie's 3pt stats right now, you'd flip. They're all off screens, and every time I say outloud "there's the automatic". It's actually amazing to see honestly.

I also hear you but we both know MyCareer is supposed to be the "teaching" tool for online players.

Even though they include the University and other fine aids for learning, 90% of the people won't use these aids and so decisions like this are made.

I mean, having the main game sliders apply to the MyCareer mode is a logical and simple solution to many issues we both see but 2k will not do this because they don't want people cheesing their way to high OVR.

I hate the fact that I need to change my offline settings in this mode almost every game I play because 2k automatically resets them to reflect online modes.

Nothing much we can do but vent though at this point in time.

here is another thing I noticed, when ever I play the Bucks or Sixers the 2 cover athletes play lights out no mater how bad the rest of their team is playing. The Greek Freak just laid up 55 points on my team in MyCareer.

Then to top that off your coach always puts you on the bench when you are hot or making a comeback run in games. That same game we were behind 15 points. I got to work and cut it down to 4 points, then they took me out. I sim to be put back in and it poof now down 15 again with 8 minutes left. As a starter you would think you would stay in more if your fatigue bar is good and you are behind in a game and hot. Then I could not close the gap because almost every drive said Freak is scoring over top 2 guys with no problems. Guys like Andre Drummond he just dunks over their heads and lays it up no issue.

When I play Simmons same thing he puts up at least 40 points.

I thought I read somewhere that you have the option of turning the story mode off this year. Is this true or did I misunderstood?

I just started creating my character last night and have not yet played any games. Still in the prelude.

There is a spot somewhere that it asks you if want to skip it or not. I think it was at the beginning or end of prelude.

Thx man. I thought i read it somewhere I just couldnt remember where. I think it might of been the one of the devs blog. I’ll see once im done with the prelude im definitely turning it off.

But the whole storyline is the reason why I stopped playing my career and went to a myleague using player lock. Its always been scripted and I hate it. I bought a basketball game to play basketball (Xs and Os) If I want an rpg ill buy and rpg. I like the idea of having ur own player and having to develop him. But these story lines make the mode unplayable. I remember in 2k13 making a 3 at the buzzer to win a game right after the starting PG got injured and the coach subbed me in with a few seconds left. The second I made it I thoughg to myself that the mode is scripted.
