I just hope the story spreads throughout the season like 2K15/17 ... gives me reason to play more games.

Last years story was good , but the meat of the story was pretty much gone after you got to the league

Definitely looks interesting this year. But, I hope next the next trailer shows NBA story elements. Because it might seem like we will get a prelude type of story where once you get to NBA you might only get a few cut scenes here and there. Will it just be a 2-3 hour story and just cut scenes? Thats one thing I liked about 2k15-18(didn't play 14) was the story lasted the whole rookie season. I'm sure they might allow you just to skip to NBA after you completed it already on a different build. So I don't see why they would pour all them resources into something that can be skipped entirely. Last year you could skip it entirely as long as you just started the prelude .

The game or at least the hype has ended up becoming a cultural thing.

I see Scottie Pippen, Idis Elba, Jaleel White acting in the game.

Pippen a few years back denied 2K to even use his likeness, but after some love and money massaging he gave the okay, and now he's apart of MyCareer.

Its pretty crazy how current and past stars are so involved.

Fully agree.
Wish they would just share that tech. It would make face scanning issues a thing of the past. There probably people who do more than 10+ scans just to get a decent face

That tech is too old to work with what 2K has so its not even a question.

If you're not using pixel gun tech then it wont be the exact same, but over this little bit seeing some of the actual scans are pretty noice.

I thought last year was pretty cool considering, but this year may be even better

last years story was the best ever imo so I'm glad to see they are telling another more serious story then the silly ones from a few years ago. Its looks really good I'll def be playing this one till the end of it.

The nickname is certainly more common and realistic than past iterations. Ernesto "Che" Guevara obviously being the most famous example but it wouldn't make sense for a white male myplayer lol...

The decision for the nickname may very well have been made by the Spring Hill guys and LeBron's camp because Che Guevara is held in fairly high esteem in the hip-hop community despite his demonization by the majority of mainstream western media / society.

Also I highly doubt a super capitalistic company like Take 2 would choose a communist Marxist revolutionary to be its MyCareer nickname pick LOL...

But Ill take anything over being called AI or DJ to be perfectly frank...

intrigued to see how 2k/spring hill try and find a way to make the capitalistic use of Che's name somehow resonant with his actual fundamental ethos...


ngl. not keen on this approach - i think it feels opportunistic, cheap and misjudged.

i really hope they prove me wrong, and its not like i'm expecting anything of quality from MyCareer stories, but if I'm playing a game and there is a story, please don't force me to make decisions that aren't related to basketball and also don't do the complexities of sacrifice justice.

if they throw 2 fingers at the NCAA i can stomach that, if they just try and make it about personal accountability against a single figure of oppression, they can miss me with this.

(still gonna play but still hoping all scenes are skippable)

‘Che’ is just a Spanish expression. I’m sure Che Guevara was the inspiration behind it, but even the use of Che as a nickname was only because he used to use it a lot. It’s basically an older version of ‘dude’. So when they refer to you as Che in the game, just imagine that they’re calling you dude.

I think actually a decent number of current NBA players grew up comfortable because their fathers were NBA players and even All-Stars, but none of that even matter because dude’s point is just flat out wrong.
