Re: Updated the shooting
In game results of metered aiming being "broken" and "impossible", lol
Again though, they have to explain changes like these better.

After more practice. I am 100 percent a fan of the shooting. The new aim control in conjunction with removing green releases. Never knew how much seeing green releases killed the game.Psn: Alabamarob

Re: Updated the shooting
Depending on how fast you pull the stick, aim it either diagonally left/right and you'll be right on top of the line and only have to make slight adjustments to get it centered.
Much easier and more consistent than the randomness before. Makes it much easier to shoot at the top of the key, so you don't have to worry about airballing because the meter blended into the background.Comment

Re: Updated the shooting
Exactly. If they keep it where you dont green every center line shot we are in business. Right now it "seems" shooting is in an excellent spot.Depending on how fast you pull the stick, aim it either diagonally left/right and you'll be right on top of the line and only have to make slight adjustments to get it centered.

Re: Updated the shooting
"Deflecting the stick slowly will cause the ideal aim point to start more to the left on the meter. While deflecting quickly will move it to the right."Video explaining how it works

I have no idea what that means. ..or they think deflecting means something that it doesn't.
Also, then does this mean the meter isn't an accuracy point in the middle with the left and right being how far to the left and right of center you're aiming? And then even moreso, how does this work for those of us that play in broadcast? I'm not gonna buy the game to find out how it feels.Comment

Deflecting means pulling down on the stick.
The meter still pops up, it's just the sweet spot to center it will be to the left or right of the meter depending on how fast you pull the right stick back. Slow and the sweet spot is on the left. Fast and the sweet spot is on the right. Hence the advice to pull diagonally to the left or right.
It works in broadcast, but only on absolute. If it's camera relative it's a nightmare and not worth dealing with. Just use the button.Comment

Re: Updated the shooting
Basically, the speed with which you pull down on the stick is what determines where the aim point is. So for example, I found that I apparently pull it down slow every time I shoot so if I just pull it down to the left a bit, I can consistently shoot."Deflecting the stick slowly will cause the ideal aim point to start more to the left on the meter. While deflecting quickly will move it to the right."

More importantly, it feels absolutely beautiful using the shot aiming with no meter and no shot feedback. I'm so happy they were able to figure this out.Last edited by Yeah...THAT Guy; 09-14-2020, 02:48 PM.NFL: Bills

Re: Updated the shooting
Is it crazy that I want to get the game now just because they removed greens? I enjoyed 2k20 offline gameplay but that ruined it.
Shame it wasn't just patched otherwise I'd save $60Comment

That's why I'm glad I got two Xbox ones, I use one to check the updates, if I like it I download it on the main Xbox I play, if not I play the game with the internet off.Comment

Re: Updated the shooting
I thought the meter appeared exactly to the left or the right of how off center you were. At least that's how I found it to be. I guess it helps people who didn't know.

Re: Updated the shooting
I don't think the speed at which you pull the stick down should have like any impact on where the meter shows up, think it's just fundamentally a bad design decision. I'm fine with the concept of understanding a general area where the meter should be depending on where you are on the floor, but I don't think it's even that much "harder" I just think it's a bad change.
Removing greens is good in terms of not showing them is good from a visual perspective, but green releases remain a big problem overall. Also, the four styles are out of balance now and no meter is quite clearly better with buttons and aiming.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

Re: Updated the shooting
I think i agree wtih you on that Chase, after some more gametime, i doubt that i find layups as good as it was designed before because i start a layup and all of a sudden i happen to need to end on the exact opposite of the meter which was not like that before. And also it's giving me headaches between a crossover and a shot, it's a good term that you used 'a definite hot mess' atm.I don't think the speed at which you pull the stick down should have like any impact on where the meter shows up, think it's just fundamentally a bad design decision. * Added the ability to shoot driving floaters from further away from the basket.
Also i really really do hate driving floaters, i think the first design was a lot well and intuitive in terms of mid range and close to the basket shots, game was opened up (the space was there to move and shoot around and close to rim) but now i see myself doing driving floaters rather i want to do running jumpshots close to rim so it's definitely not needed and i hope it changes back to 'out of the box'. The mid range and close to basket shots are mostly gone now bcs of that, not entirely but it's not fluid anymore as it was out of the box. I have never even see the need of driving floaters from any1,too. Please change it back to what it was out of the box.
I definitely didn't like those 2 changes and they are definitely as you told seem like a very very bad design, both changes killed fluidity overall.
I want this back please.... please... driving floaters are just out of the context and mainly very rigid animations happening unnaturally. Please let's get back to 'out of the box' state of this shots below example.
Or in real life example of it is this one from kawhi, i want to be able to do it as i wish i don't want to see unnatural driving floaters...

Re: Updated Shooting Difficulty In Patch 1.02 (Feedback)
What would be great @beluba if we could get a new slider to adjust the bonus/malus that we get from (mis)aiming/timing the shot.
We try to create a competitive atmosphere in our online league which is impossible because there is one guy who shoots 60+% on 3 with button timing while many others are shooting below 30%. If we could adjust how much of a bonus this one guy gets and how much the malus is for the others guys, that would be really, really helpful!Comment
