Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY better

The CPU has mostly normalized for me of late, seemingly following the last big patch. In mid-December I was destroying every CPU team by 30, even the 80's Lakers. Now it seems like games hang in the balance again. I lost to the Lakers with the '88 Spurs, beat the Bullets by double-digits with the '88 Pistons, then lost by 10 or so to the '88 76ers with the Pacers. All seemed to be sensible games and outcomes.

I think the CPU and I are both shooting a little too good now but frankly, with how properly competitive it feels at the moment, I'm reluctant to touch anything else.

Definitely doesn't feel like you can have shot timing set to 0 now. I'm having the CPU just go through regular ridiculous shooting streaks.

I'm sure there'll be another update before long that makes them brick everything again though.

Yeah 0 timing impact is a no go now. 10 seems decent so far. Kind of like the old 0 felt.

I hope they stop touching it. Can’t stand this back and forth.

Another new thing I noticed is missed dunks. I’m seeing lots more. Not mad about it really as long as it doesn’t go overboard. But I didn’t see any before Reality. Now multiples in one game.

I think in general inside scoring has been nerfed, which would include dunks where there is some defensive pressure.

That’s a good thing actually. Inside scoring was so buffed before that I never put user or cpu inside shots and layups over 50, no matter what sliders I had for mid/close/3 success rates.

Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY better

Something has quite obviously changed in the last day or two with regards to inside scoring - you basically can't finish in close if there is any sort of pressure whatsoever, leading to those ridiculous animations where you literally miss with your hand over the rim because a defender is somewhere within five feet.

It's like they've realised the CPU doesn't recognise mismatches so this is the "fix" when you get it down low against a guard/smaller opponent.

Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY WORSE

Beat the 01 Lakers today as the 02 Kings ... by 57 points. Had to switch back to an old slider set from like 2 months ago, started another game, and I still was up 26 points at one point.

Do the gameplay testers/tweakers at 2K actually get paid to just f*** with the game every week? I mean, serious question. Who is telling them to constantly mess with the gameplay in such a drastic way?

My last post 2 weeks ago I couldn't stop a nose bleed and Lakers shot 67% from the field. Now they are back to shooting 39%. And this is 12-min quarters.

I think I'm done until the game stops being updated lol. Changes are too drastic in each update messing with sliders I have.

Re: Is it me or did the CPU get WAY better

Why the hell do they keep messing stuff up? Now contested interior scoring is impossible. The one thing I didn’t have to touch before was interior scoring. Now that I got shooting right, I have to start playing with interior success rates and/or defensive strength inside. Ridiculous.

I’m legitimately never buying another 2K again. This is just pathetic. I love this game but it’s always something. What’s the point of a 2K playing great if they just screw it up or switch gameplay back and forth daily to screw with players.

I pretty much never buy 2k as it is, I'm only here this year 2k23 for Michael Jordan being featured. So until they do something significant like a major graphics engine overhaul, 2k23 will be a one-&-done thing for me.
Thank goodness I love the sandbox that is this game, so I can tweak it to my liking. But the way 2k needlessly plays this cat & mouse game with no publicly stated purpose, I'll save my $70 in future years and more importantly, save the time I put in to re-create shoes, rosters, signatures, and, yep, sliders.

Yea actually I have. I had cpu shooting sliders at about 70 and they were shooting about 45% give or take. Last two games I played they shot 65% so it feels like something changed. And it’s not just the shooting pct, the contested shots they were making too whereas before they weren’t. Yea I’ve had mine offline no patch updates no menu updates.

This latest adjustment would be easier to accept if they also hadn't buffed CPU perimeter defense to 2k22 levels. So it's that much harder to get a step on your defender as they seem to be able to "stick" to you and warp through screens, and if you get to the basket you need to be completely in the clear to even make a dunk.

I assume they make all these changes in response to streamers and online feedback, but for someone like me who just plays my own MyLeague, it's incredibly frustrating as I just want a consistent gameplay experience but the game seems different every time I play it. I (again) had finally got it to a place where shooting was good and the CPU was challenging, and then the last two days I've had mostly games where both teams are shooting under 40% because of the amount of inside bricks.

This then has the knock-on effect of too many offensive rebounds by the shooter and also too many fast breaks, as the CPU gets three players down the court before you even cross halfway after a miss. So you're forever trying to defend a fast break because you've dared to take an inside shot.

I really need to learn to turn my internet off when I get it where I want it.

I would like to say again for those of you that play strictly offline, once the game get to point where you satisfied with the gameplay, do not turn on nba 2k23 with your internet still on through the console.

The feel of the game seems to change daily even without a patch or an in game update
