Yeah I didn't even know this one existed until I played my older brother. I'm not an online player so I don't experience what you guys refer to as "cheesers" but when my bro pulled this technique I felt your guys' pain for a moment there.

The problem seems to be a lack of control in the offensive players' regard. A human defender may be guarding a human point guard straight up as he walks up the floor, but if that defender decides to strike the "take charge" button suddenly and without warning, even if the offensive player is just strolling up the floor, there will often be a charge.

Also, there are times when a human can set up their "charge taker" well in advance of a ball handler in the backcourt and the unresponsiveness of the controls will not allow that human ball handler to make a sharp enough direction change to avoid the offensive foul.

There are certainly work-arounds (particularly initiating isomotion moves that go away from the defender) but it still appears to be too easy as a defender to force your opponent to essentially walk on eggshells and crawl up the court on many occasions.

      0:35. I bet that's just about impossible in 2K10.

      Anyways, more:

-Superstars, and even good ballhandlers in general should be more aggressive when facing doubles. EVERYONE passes out of the double in 2K10. The CPU should be willing and able to dribble out of and/or through double teams, or shoot over them or through them.

Also, animation requests shouldn't go in here, right? We should get a thread goin for that. Tendencies, too.

That's not a glitch, come on... nonsense requests like this is what's screwed up the game in the past.

It happens in the NBA, don't get rid of it.

I also have no idea WTF everyone is talking about with manual jumper releases... they're sure as hell not auto like in Live 08 I think it was.

Re: NBA 2k11 - Lets Talk Gameplay improvements

Well I love this game, yet it's not even close to perfect. Here are many things that need to be fixed with gameplay

          1. Bumping Cutters & Staying Between Your Man and the Basket

Everytime a player cuts in this game, it seems like he's always open and it's an easy lay-up. This is because players don't bump the cutter, and trail the cutter allowing the player usually to find him for a lay-up.

It would be nice to see someone cut, and the defender bump him so he can't get through the paint, and is forced to either pop back out, or just keep going all the way to the other side of the court. While cuts should sometimes work they should in no way be this effective.

          2. Rotations & Doubling the Post

The initial help in this game when a man drives isn't bad. Maybe it needs a little tweaking, but I really have no complaint. The problem is that no other man on defense rotates to help out the help defender. Let's say Derrick Rose drives by Rajon Rondo and is getting to the rim. KG steps up and stop Rose before he can get to the rim. In 2k10, Rose could just dish everytime to KG's man at the block. In real life, the man at the top of the key needs to drop and hopefully get there in time to stop the open pass.

These rotations are needed when doubling the post. When the ball is in the post though, the double needs to come from the weakside. Then once that happens the man at the top of the key, needs to drop for help.

          3. Running Lanes

Just a quick complaint about this. When on a fastbreak, wing players seem to love going to the corner a little too much. If there is no lane to the basket, then I this is what they are suppose to do, but if Rondo has a 2 on 1, with Pierce running the wing, he should atleast try to run his lane to the basket and try for a lay-up. Sometimes they do this in 2k, but it seems like most times they sprint to the corner, and you are forced to shoot a corner three, instead of having an easy 2 on 1 fastbreak lay-up.

          4. Off-Ball Movement & Plays

The off-ball movement in this game really isn't good. It's just the occasional screen, and the unstoppable backdoor cut. There needs to be more of running the baseline, screens across the block, curl screens, V-Cuts, and spacing. I believe NBA Live 10 did a great job with this, and it would be great if this could be brought to 2k10.

The Plays need to change a bit. Most plays have more than one option. So I should be able to pass to either wing or something like that. Then I should have the option to either passing it to the SG coming off the screen, or the SF who is also coming off the screen. What I mean is that there should be more than option almost everytime you pass the ball.

Also it would be nice if everytime you were suppose to pass to a player a button would pop up above their head.

          5. Dribble Moves

Make it so when holding LT the Right Stick becomes the dribbling stick. Im hoping Mike Wang can make it as good as Live's because this year's dribbling frustrates me. It's hard for me to do a lot of moves. I believe if holding the LT makes it the dribbling stick, we could easily move with the left stick and dribble great at the same time. I also think releasing LT when we want to shoot would be pretty easy so we could use the shot stick.

          6. The Forgotten Plays

In Basketball, there are the plays that happen occasionally that never make the highlights. What I would like is for people tripping and falling while running in a crowded lane, or when dribbling the ball and defenders are reaching. Jump Balls should be included after rebounds, or when a double team comes. If you set a defender to play physical on a player, you should see them bumping, grabbing, clawing, and fighting to deny/get open. Another thing I would like is hedging or switching screens. When a ball screen occurs, there should be a button to hedge and a button to switch. So if it's two big men or two guards screening, we could switch, but if it's a big and a guard we could hedge. Also in the gameplan screen, we should have the option to hedge or switch all screens so we don't have to press a button.

That's all I can think of for now. These additions would really make this a great game for me, and I think most people. I'm really hoping for most of these.
I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.

On top of this, bumps should be called as fouls sometimes, and players should visibly complain when they feel like they're being bumped too much.

Very good suggestion, and in addition to this, we need a "Help the Helper" slider. Some teams are better at it than others.

And off-ball cuts should be done with more urgency. Rip Hamilton, Ray Allen, etc., should be seen SPRINTING across the court and around screens sometimes for entire possessions at a time, NOT taking a leisurely stroll through the park.

This would also help the Human vs CPU aspect of the game immensely-- in 2K10, they run a play, they're gonna do the same thing when they run that play 9 times out of 10. Boring and predictable. Not a challenge at all, and frustrating for purists.

I've seen this suggestion so many times that I actually think it has a good chance of making it in. I'm on the apparently long list of people that would like to see it.

i can tell this is your first year playing 2k and you dont play online. EVERYONE knows that if you manage to get into the circle there will be some layup animaion that cant be blocked in a online game. Also play nba 2k 7-9 and see if you cant tell how the jumpers changed SMH

Both false statements. I've played since 2K6 and played online since 2K7.

Let me clear this up for you and everyone else-

                False: There's an in-the-paint, under-the-basket, within-the-restricted-area, glitched, unblockable layup animation in 2K10

True: When a player gets in the paint in 2K10, the layup animations are so quick, and the defensive mechanics so flawed, that no one can be expected to react quick enough to block those layups. Combine that with the fact that layups have a higher success rate than they should online, and people are able to and do abuse it to their benefit.

See? Nothin against you, you just need to understand what is and what isn't before you say this or say that. When people say stuff that isn't true, it can mess up how 2K fixes a given problem or whether or not they fix it at all, or force them to "fix" a problem that's not even there.

I just want the best game possible, same as everyone else, and yes, fairer, more balanced online play would be nice.

Re: NBA 2k11 - Lets Talk Gameplay improvements

Where is the battle for the boards? Sure you can box out (to some degree) but then what? The ball is in the air.. Two players jump for it..And..... The ball enters the force field in Brendan Haywood's hands and Joakim Noah's arm goes through the ball. There isn't a tipped ball or a jump ball in that situation in 2k10 like it should be.
Actually that's more of a problem throughout the entire game. There is only contact when the game triggers a two man animation in which there is contact. Otherwise everything just clips through everything else. Hands through rims and backboards, shoulders through torsoes, etc.. Its gotta stop.
Gameplay would be vastly improved if EVERY ANIMATION COULD BE BROKEN. Every single one. Broken by user input, broken by a bump, a foul, a block, a strip. Any and everything has to be able to be broken. Otherwise you get animations like the reverse layup where your players are moved for you unless you happened to press in that every so slight window the charge or block button.
I realize that wishing for every animation is kinda unrealistic so at least start with the layup and dunk animations. That's why there are so many and 1s. The defensive player swipes at the ball and their hands go thru the ball or arm and there's no contact registered by the game. This alone would make 2k11 a much better game.

This seems to be the most common complaint against 2k the last few years. If this was literally the ONLY change made for 2k11, I'd be more than willing to drop another $60. I refuse to believe that making movement "heavy" or "on-skates-ish" is the only way to create a realistic game. That's rubbish.

This is the reason I don't love the shot stick the way a lot of gamers here do. In certain situations it's fine, but a lot of times (most notably drifters/leaners) it just feels downright unintuitive.

I had an idea that players should have automatically lean back but not quite fade when they shoot contested jumpers, and you'd be able to set that leaner animation in the sig animations section of edit player.

So basically a shot that's in between a set, up-and-down shot and a fadeaway. It's a shot that a LOT of players utilize and is totally nonexistant in any game

Also, sizeups should be like Live. Hold the right trigger in place, and you size up until you let go of the trigger.

It's hard for me to do a lot of moves. I believe if holding the LT makes it the dribbling stick, we could easily move with the left stick and dribble great at the same time. I also think releasing LT when we want to shoot would be pretty easy so we could use the shot stick.

The biggest problem I have with this game, is that the numerical ratings are too high.

It allows average shooters to make way too many shots.

Sagging off is pointless, if the other player has perfected a shooter's release.

Guys like Wilson Chandler should not be hitting off the dribble 15-20 foot jumpers with any kind of consistancy.

Lowering the shooting ratings across the board would make the game play much more realistic, if they didnt do anything else.

You have to pick up your dribble to post anyway.
