Smh, were you here when they rated lebron higher than kobe for 2k12? It was a uproar. Do you honestly believe that I think 2k will not rate him a 99 just because most people hate him? If 2k believes he's deserving of a 99 they'll give him a 99. I really can't use sarcasm on this forum because few understand it.

Re: NBA 2K13: Why LeBron James Deserves 99 Overall Rating in Newest Version of Game

Since Kobe has been in the league 6 year longer than LeBron the volume is going to favor the guy in the league longer.

In statistics at the time given:

In their playoff appearances at this point in their careers Kobe had taken 15 shots making 4, while LeBron has taken 12 making 5, even though Kobe had taken 3 more gt/gw shots than Lebron, LeBron has made more and been more efficient.

LeBron has taken 12 gt/gw shots in 99 playoff games, while Kobe has taken 25 in 217 games. LeBron takes the gt/gw shot 1.2 times every 10 playoff games he's played while Kobe takes the gt/gw shot 1.1 times every 10 games he's played in. The ratio of gt/gw shots taken to the number of playoff games played favors LeBron by a slight margin.

So if we are going by stats only then Jeremy Lin by your definition is the most clutch player in NBA history, he is after all 100% on GW/GT shots. I mean you are comparing apples to oranges when you say a guy who only takes 12 shots is comparable to another who has taken 25. Its absurd really.
Step aside MJ, Kobe,LBJ there’s a new Best ever to put on a uniform according to this statistical Realist and his name is JEREMY LIN"

it could be argued both ways... so there really is no 'right' answer. these are just game winners anyway - what about end of quarter situations?

            good articles btw
The times he passed the ball, his teammates has always had a better look then he did, he makes the right play but is penalized because he doesn't do this http://youtu.be/6kZCvd3MR08 it's like we praise Kobe for being a ballhog but slander Lebron for making the right play.

To your point of kobe being in the league longer and taking more shots, the same argument can be made that because kobe been in the league longer, he should have made more shots, so it's not an absurd argument.

I'm not bashing Kobe. Just using him as an example.

Basketball I.Q. is high... Basketball SKILLS are off da charts... They don't even have enough SS spots to give u his full style of play... C'mon now.. If Durant is a 94, CP3 is a 94... And A.I. is a 95.... You're telling me LeBron James isn't 4-5 points better than all those guys... His game and numbers speak for themselves... 99 OVERALL.... No if ands or buts about it....
i can agree with all of this. If only there were a "heart" & "mental agression" rating... if there were, people would understand why Lebron SHOULDN'T be rated 99 overall.

but since there ISN't... it's hard to argue his VIDEO-GAME overall rating being 4-5 overall points higher than any other player. i still agree with all other posters that said overalls should be done away with & further more... no current player should be rated higher than a 97 & only a handful rated higher than 90.

when we watch games as REAL basketball viewers... we assess SKILLS in terms of rankings, so when it comes to 2K why do we care about an overall so damn much?

In previous 2Ks I built my teams based on my favorite players. Players that I like their real life games. Players that were underrated but as good as some of the games elite in certain areas, players that pretty much specialized in different aspects of the game, rarely caring about OVR. I've made playoff championship caliber teams that were 78-85 OVR, while teams like the Lakers and Heat were 93-97 OVR. Now with the introduction of sig. skills I can do this while being even more effective.

                  A:"LBJ is clutch!"
                  B: "No he isn't!"
                  A: "Yes he is!"
                  B: "No!"
A: "Yes! Prove it that he isn't!"

The reason you guys are arguing is because he is an inconsistent clutch player. Obviously, that doesn't mean he isn't clutch and vice versa. In some games, he is clutch but some other games, he shys away from the moment and this is understandable since 1. he isn't a selfish player 2. he has the teammate who's the best SG in the league.
The huge improvement of his game since last season isn't about clutch but him taking over games when they need him (nobody in the league today can do that the way he does maybe except Durant, and Wade occasionally). However, this isn't the meaning of "clutch" so hope people won't have a confusion and argue over nonsense.

So being clutch is only one ratings category, at least in 2k12. LeBron haters literally have nothing left its embarrassing. Go start hating melo for never going anywhere in the playoffs. LeBron carried a team that was probably the worst in finals history. Sasha pavlovich was a starter.

Also when Kobe didn't have a team he never went anywhere he was just a stat whore. Kobe demanded to be traded everyone forgets that. He also said to ship "that bum player" bynum. LeBron has been a model teammate his whole career, Kobe has been the opposite. And like someone brought up before, for final shots a lot of time Bron made the correct basketball play and passed it too a open teammate instead of jacking a long double covered jumpshot like KOBE

i HATE when people say that Lebron carried an "awful" team in the Cavs to the finals for two reasons:

1 - that team was NOT that bad... Allen Iverson carried wrose teams o the finals & had LITERALLY NO HELP

2 - LeBron DID carry the team... only to check out when they needed him most.

aside from that... i can't stand Melo either for his selfishness, him being a chemistry killer & mostly for his antics in the "Nate Robison sucker punch & then running away; the full length of the court..... & then playing along side him".

                        LeBron = 97 overall
clutch = average at best in contrast to all other players until he does a lil more
all physical attributes = elite rating
                        mental attributes = elite rating
                        skill ratings = elite rating
the consistency rating if it applied to aggression, menatlity or ACTUAL consistency of shooting would = low & that rating would need to be heavily weighted in overall for starters.

FUN FACT EVERYONE: Kobe was rated a 101 in NBA 2k9 before the devs had to change his ratings and lowered it to 98

                            I remember Chris saying he wanted a 34yr old Kobe to be rated at 98 lol. My personal ratings: Lebron = 96, KD=94, Wade=92, Kobe=90, Westbrook=90, Dwight=at least 90 since Bynum=87. Yup, I'm hating.

Even if Lebron wasn't clutch, you would still be able to replace that sig skill with another one of the 30, and he would still get a 98/99 rating.

For 2K13 they shouldn't rate none of the current players above a 97 in my opinion. I like Lebron, he is a beast but he doesnt just win one championship and have a great season and all of the sudden he should be a 99 rating player.
Dude what are you even talking about? You can't win one championship and be a 99 overall? There isn't a "rings" or "championship" attribute? That has nothing to do with a players overall.. SMH
