Re: The defensive logic of this game is completely messed up!
I'm glad to see people wake-up and finally notice this game for what it is. It's a very "average" basketball game that caters towards the novice audience. I can play a guy online that doesn't really know basketball, but I'll have a hard time beating him because he picked the Knicks and Melo drains every shot imaginable. And Kevin Durant and Lebron is just ridiculous. You can play top notch defense and those guys will do some computer generated animation and still hit the shot. You don't need skills to play this game. All you need is just common sense to pick a team with that has Durant, Kobe, Melo, or Lebron on it.
One of the major issues I have with the game is that it's to heavenly animated. It's hard to play this game when it's an extra animation for everything you do. I pass to an open man at the 3 line and he has to do some catch animation. Well by the time he's done the defense has recovered. This game is definitely not all that and I find it more frustrating then rewarding.Comment

1 is a problem with almost every sports game on the planet - there are superstar players that will burn you easily, whether its The Show, FIFA, madden. Play real sim sliders against a sim opponent, because thats the only solution. Oddly the only game I've played where skill differentiation didn't kill the game was MLB 2k and maybe mvp baseball (can't remember too well).but I'll have a hard time beating him because he picked the Knicks and Melo drains every shot imaginable. I like the fact there are no physics distorting animations. Players in real life go through shooting routines, and I think this should be reflected in the game. There was already a discussion about the 'lack of control' in 2k bball games but in the end I have to say, being able to control every aspect of player movement (rather than being more animation based) wouldn't necessarily have a better outcome.
Maybe they could add a button modifier to get off a quick shot/pass/layup etc. that would substantially drop success rate. That way you have the option of allowing the player go through their animation for better shot success vs altering their shot to get it off earlier (like it happens in 2k13 already with the last minute shot attempts).Comment

Re: The defensive logic of this game is completely messed up!
Had you just said the bold, that would have sufficed, but for you to question my knowledge of basketball when you don't even know who I am, and then say that my post reeks of incoherence (supplemented by your condescending tone) is the height of arrogance and ignorance. This is even without mentioning that you couldn't be bothered to admit that you made a mistake in ignoring the fact that I was talking about getting back in time on MAKES, not misses.
The same logic applies.
if you have crash boards high, your team will still try and focus on rebounding. Doesn't matter if it's make or miss, if it's up they will focus on rebounding.
If it's low only your PF and C will focus on rebounding. Your wing players will focus on getting back on defense.
You do know teams can push the ball up the court on makes or misses? What you said in your post makes no sense son. Regardless depending on where your crash boards sliders are they will either crash the boards(leaving you giving up a ton of fastbreak points) or get back on D(they will get back on defense in time to stop the fastbreak)
Take it with a grain of salt fellas, if you read or watched any of the videos I posted in the last 2 pages, it will help you. And put a rest to most of this defense is broke complaints.
YES I HAVE SEEN TEAMS PUSH THE BALL UP ON MAKES OR MISSES, BOY, but the only team I have seen that does it this much is TEAM USA when they are playing unathletic scrubs in the Olympics. This is the NBA.
As for your advice, there is absolutely NO evidence supporting it. You should really have a bit more humility in your OPINIONS, and not just declare that you have found the magic formula for defense after playing the game for less than two weeks, thus "putting to rest" complaints about the defense.Originally posted by Dogslax41Most people that are asking for a simulation game don’t really want a simulation game because its too hard.Comment

Has anybody seen the CPU AI defense double team post mismatches?I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: The defensive logic of this game is completely messed up!
THANKS YOU. That is one of the most annoying things about playing random games. I have played literally 3 or 4 games where people literally switch and press X CONSTANTLY for defense and hope to get on ball or pass steals.
I try to dribble with my back towards them and let them foul me, but they get off about 3-4 reaches with out getting the foul, then they knock the ball way a after a while because I'm not doing anything.
The penalty for reaching on a steal also isn't bad enough since they can constantly try to get passes and recover almost instantly when in real life the other team would be able to score every time so no one actually does it.
2K knows that is what scrubs and most new players do, which is who they are catering to, so they don't penalize it as much as they really should because the game would seem boring to them if they aren't seeing steals, ankle breakers, or dunks every other play.
If they want to do that, have a casual setting and a sim setting for online games and both type of players would be satisfied with very little dev work on 2K's part.Comment
