Personally my biggest fear for Association is they take away user control(editing contracts ratings etc) and force us into a VC based nightmarish Connected Careers knock off...

Their main focus should be rotations player progression and team management AI

Like someone else stated player personalities and demands would be a great way to break up the monotony of Association but I think it'd be cool if they stole the body health thing from NFL Head Coach.

Like each players limb or head/body would lose health after repeated serious injury. Incorporating something like that would really help with forcing a decline in progression/ratings on some players imo

Yeah that head coach system would be awesome. As the game stands now, there really is no drawback to signing a guy like Greg Oden or Brandon Roy. With a system like that it could be a red black on them saying *Injury prone or *bad knees. It would make teams second guess signing them.

With that turning Association into a basterdized Connected Careers, oh god even the thought! I just don't see 2k (Sports Game devs in general) see the need to make the games casual as possible. I don't see why you can make the game super in depth. It's not like if a 10 year old starts an association a gun is held to their head and they're told they must play 100% sim. The game should just be made as in depth as real life and have simple controls to turn off things like contracts, player personalitys, injurys, things like that. I remember a time when you could make a game as in depth or as basic as you wanted. It seems now like they are in this weird grey area.

a "create-a-coach" option would be nice. unless you have 500+ portraits of fake coaches (which you don't), then having generated faces that you could see in game would be better don't you think?

They should definitely make changes to the association, and every save should live its own life. Lets just say that NBA 2K13 would have the rookie Grant Hill in the game. He would probably have a potential rating in the range of 95-98, and the rating that decides how frequently he would get injured (don't remember what it's called) would probably be low as well. That would probably be fair, but we all know what happened to his career. His repeated ankle injuries set him back, and made him loose enough athleticism that he never was the same guy. We also had Greg Oden and Brandon Roy who both entered the league with all the potential in the world, but after a few knee injuries they were forced to leave the league. They can keep the potential ability, but they should only have it as a cap of what a player can be, and have a lot of parameters that would influence it, like injuries, playing time, work ethic. The duration a player stays in his peak should aslo be different from player to player.

And we desperately need personalities to influence the game. We have seen so many superstars move over the last few seasons, in different ways. Remember Kobe Bryant wanted to leave, but opted to stay when the Lakers responded by getting Pau Gasol. LeBron James left the Cavs with nothing. Howard wanted to leave, opted in to his final year, and then changed his mind, leaving the Magic in a mess, and unable to get a good deal for him. Paul wanted to leave, probably kept the Hornets informed, and gave them a chance to get something for him. Anthony wanted to go to the Knicks, the Knicks knew that, but was still forced to throw in every player the Nuggets wanted. We should see different variations of these situations happening.

I want to control the Lakers, and bully the minor market teams for players. I also want to control minor market teams, struggling to build teams that is good enough for superstars to either join, or if I already have a superstar, good enough for him to stay.

The way players decide to end their careers should be different also. We should have players like Allen Iverson, who decides to bomb out of the league, once he was coming off the bench. We should have superstars who hasn't won a ring yet trying to change their game, and be a role model for a contender.

It would also be cool if they made it possible for personalities to clash. How cool wouldn't it be to have to superstars like Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal, you would think that you have a dynasty that could reach for years at your hands, only for them to clash. Who would you decide to keep? Kobe or Shaq? That would be amazing.

It should be like FIFA 13, where the players tell you what they think, request transfers, and your youth academy players ask to come up to the senior squad. This is the kind of stuff every game needs to be realistic.

I think the general consensus is we need stronger player personalitys. The only real problem I've run into with a player is we aren't gonna have the cap room to re sign him, so ill trade to make room or trade him and get some valuable pieces. We should have players with personalitys like Kobe, Dwight, CP3, Melo, Allen Iverson, to make things a challenge. It should be like someone said about Kobe and Shaq. You could have a team with all the talent in the world, but if these 2 guys are tearing the team apart from the inside you'll be lucky to make the playoffs. You gotta pick one. They could even extend it to the draft. You could be scouting a guy that would be the perfect fit coming off the bench do your star, but he's got an ego and knows it. You could take him and he could pull down the morale of your team, or you could take the less talented guy who has incredible work ethic and will develop very quickly.

I like that, but I also want to give the other end of the spectrum some attention, too - players who have very little ego. Manu Ginobili gets something like 23 minutes a night right now coming off the bench, but I haven't once heard him complain. Every time I try to do something like that in NBA 2K13, he hates the Spurs. I have to make him a starter, and I have to hand him at least 30 minutes a night. There could be a "Discipline" rating for coaches or something, and those ratings would be opposed by player egos or something.

i think we need more bad scouts in the 'staff market' so its not so obvious where the talent lies. was scouting a center (and the scout had a D or F) and they were telling me that this guy wasn't ready for the NBA and he was an average center. i pass on him and he comes into the league and is second in rebounding and first in blocks (11.8 and 2.2 bpg).

i've been using good scouts for a while and i always knew what i was getting. a few A's and B's and a lot of C,D and F scouts would be good.
