Re: 2K13's spacing : It's an issue.
LOL!
The L1/LB tap into the system but they do not deal with the type of non play offense you will end up running.
What the l1/lb buttons do is allow you to decide what type of play you want to access quickly without calling something for a specific player.
That is the 2k smart play button that has much more intelligence than the pick best play ever had. Although It is not as deep as some of you would hope for just yet. It is very much improved.
The half court line is the dividing line. Your press l1\lb BEFORE crossing half court and you will get a play from your teams actual play book.
If you press l1\lb AFTER crossing the half court line you will get a quick "action". This could be anything from a backdoor cut, quick pindown, Alley oop, or a post-up.
While i had a good portion of that screen shot written up prior to jumping in this thread. Everyone who posted had an effect on the final design that ended up making it into the game.
That is what those button options are about. Remember we kept hitting our heads on the different expectations that different users have on what AI players should be doing when a user has the ball.
Some just wanted them to space and allow the user to create and others wanted constant movement. I also added an in between option that may work for a lot of users as well.
of all the things i have helped with I am most proud of this one although it still is far from perfect due to time constraints.Last edited by Da_Czar; 09-27-2013, 01:07 PM.Catch me on that #SimNation #SimHangOut Friday's @ 10:00 pm est https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...N7yxMiElOpMl_BComment

Czar,
This is dope. Honestly, I don't see much traditional play-calling in the NBA (aside from crunch time situations). These general schematics of where players should be on the court are more in line with how the game is played at the professional level. I am excited. And I hope to play more of you guys online. The game is ours we'll never foul out. - Jay-Z

LOL. I fixed that for you. I know you guys don't know the whole team but if you like the direction of the plays there is one name you need to know...

Re: 2K13's spacing : It's an issue.
2 questions if anyone could answer.
1. Do stretch 4's stretch out to the 3 point line?
2. If you call for a pick do the players still remained spaced?
In 13, I could call an Iso, then call for a pick, and bigs would be posting up lol
My go to play is the angle pick and roll from the wing. Watching CP3 run that all the time and how devastating it is I've tried to perfect it. Getting in the middle of the floor off a screen opens up more passes than running a regular high pick and roll where you wind up off to the side a bit and throwing back to a weak side shooter takes more time. That play was broken in 13.Student of the game. #Fundamentals

Re: 2K13's spacing : It's an issue.
1. This was not possible before due to the way the freelance was setup. This year it is possible for both the user and the AI. If you listened to Mikes podcast he talked about 4-1 and 3-2 in sets. When a player at the 4 position checks into the game for the AI they go immediately to a 4-1 in freelance offensive set. Now mind you they can still run plays that may not be 4-1 but when they are not running a play they will be 4-1
In the video I showed you the issue with pnr's still seems apparent in some forms of the 4-1 set. Specifically if it is when one of the 4 on the perimeter set the screen.
In those instances the 5 is still in the way as I show in the video. I sent that to the dev's in hopes it can be repaired if not this gen then next hopefully.
the 3-2 in pnr spacing seems to be fine. The issue now is only in some of the pnr's in the 4-1 freelance sets.

Re: 2K13's spacing : It's an issue.
Btw, reading through the thread but I believe this was improved a LOT. You see players sprinting as they come off screens now. Beautifull.QFT
This same thing happens on the triple screen for Parker in the Spurs Playbook. He kind of just jogs and bumps around the screens like a pinball machine and gets no separation whatsoever from the defender. This is particularly annoying as it's one of the Spurs' most common and recognisable plays, and they've ran it several times during these playoffs.
IRL, you see Parker sprint past those screens (sometimes he'll misdirect on the first screen if he's been defended too tightly and just come back where he started to take a three), catch the ball and then usually take a hard dribble to his left and take an open mid range shot.
You also don't have to wait that every players is at their respective spots before the play can start. That shotclock is gonna feel very long this year.Comment

Re: 2K13's spacing : It's an issue.
Thanks for the clarification. I like to run 1-5 pick and rolls anyway so I'm good. This is a nice step in the right direction.1. This was not possible before due to the way the freelance was setup.
