Re: MyTeam Mobile Discussion
Maybe so... but people are wrong about things all the time. Some people see this as a collection game, but MOST see it as a competition, see for yourself: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...mpetition.html
How is a game competitive, when you don't have the means or wherewithal to compete?
Again, as the game stands now, if you have stats at 2500 across the board, and your opponent does too, what are you gonna do to COMPETE for that win?
Nothing. You check the game, and hope the game picks you for the win.
That's competition?
The ONLY means we have for "competition", is to hope we get a card that helps our team (either via Quick Game or buying packs).
If you're in the playoffs (the only time winning actually matters), you can't even do that.
When you win at something competitive, there's a sense that you earned your win. Does anybody get that from this game?
I'm not even trying to bash the game. I think it's fun for what it is. I just think it's a bit delusional to really feel a sense of competition from it.Comment

Re: MyTeam Mobile Discussion
I think the answer you are looking for is Shawn Kemp. His offense and deffense are very high, but his mental game is a too low. Maybe he has 2-3 Leg Pro's of KempComment

Re: MyTeam Mobile Discussion
I do. For me the competition in this game is tied in with time-management. I have a full-time job and a whole lot of things going on to where I can't spend all my time playing this game, that means I can't charge my team up all the time, but I still have to figure out a way to do it enough to be competitive. I've beaten teams in the playoffs that are better than me because I provided my players with energy and the opposition didn't, in those cases I definitely feel as if I've earned the win. I can't think of a single championship season that I've won where my numbers were the best out of all the teams, so I had to do something to get the win, so yes, I feel as if I've earned it.
I see what you're saying though, there really aren't that many ways to give your team a competitive advantage. I wish there were more but there are some, and certainly enough for me to see the game as a competition.MyNBA2K15 Info:

Re: MyTeam Mobile Discussion
In older school fighting games things like frame data were almost exclusively things found out by players through meticulous timing and effort. This game has both a smaller population and one that doesn't really want to delve that deep. I suggested a week ago if anyone wanted to and was willing to possibly throw away seasons to run an experiment with say 3 epic pros and all common season lineup just to see what kind of teams you could beat. Run it over a half season or season and you can start seeing if you could really beat teams with much higher "totals". Then moving into say including a bench of varying numbers. Do we need 3 in the bench too? What happens when I have terrible support cards (I don't feel it is that big unless the cards were close already). It's actually a relatively recent thing for games that have "tons" of data provided on internal workings. Most games those things are usually found out by players.I TOTALLY disagree with the premise that ignorance is somehow a good thing in a competitive game.
Ignorance is only good competitively, because it prevents anyone from actually being good. So yeah, in terms of competitive balance, it keeps people on the same level. That level sucks though. It's like watching kindergartners play football or something. Yeah... It's balanced, but only because everyone sucks, and the game itself suffers.
In any competitive game I've ever played, more information only improves the nature of the game. In FPS, understanding the way different guns work and being familiar with maps, respawn points, etc. makes competitions better. In fighting games, knowing spacing, frame data, and having a firm understanding of the physics and game system, is way better than just mashing buttons and hoping.
No competition is improved by hiding the rules and the nature of the competition itself, unless the competition itself wouldn't hold up to any level of scrutiny.
If that's the case, then the game isn't really worth playing anyway.
Which brings me back to my original point... This game is NOT a competitive game. It's a collecting game, under the guise of competition, and this matchmaking "fix" does nothing to change that, and just makes people wait longer to start seasons.

This game as you said isn't made for that deep of a gameplay though. It's not magic the gathering or even hearthstone or even yugioh. I enjoy it as a casual time spender/waster and liking the nba and to a degree collecting.Comment

Re: MyTeam Mobile Discussion
Whether devs release that kind of info, or players derive it themselves, my only point regarding that, is that the information itself is obviously valuable, and it makes competition better. The notion that competition is somehow enhanced by ignorance, to me, is completely backwards.Very few companies actually promote the underpinnings of their game. Sure FPS's give info about recoil, dmg, rof, but they never really discuss how much dmg and in what body part constitutes a OHK. That information is amost always discovered by meticulous players.
And I don't understand this concept of "guise of competition." This game is about what you want it to be. To many it's a card collection game. To many it's a competitive game. The first rivals event had Kobe who was worse than a Legendary Pro. Still, Twista worked his tush off to collect a limited edition card. That card didn't crack his LU, but I would think he appreciates having it.
As it pertains to this game, I don't think it's possible for players to uncover real info on how the game works, so it'd be great if the devs told us more, but again.. my main point was just that the information itself is valuable for competition.
As for the game being whatever you want it to be... you could say that about anything. Anything is what you want it to be. Under whatever feelings you can associate though, something just is what it is. A game in which your means to actually affect the outcomes are slim to none, to me, can't really be seen as competitive. It's about as competitive as a raffle (probably less so, really).
If during the competition, there's almost nothing I can do to compete.... I don't know.. Guess I'm missing something.Comment

Something like 4 bill Russell's and 6 Shawn Kemps probably gets you close.Comment

Re: MyTeam Mobile Discussion
Except you're assuming that all 2500 decks are equal. There is strategy in how a deck is built. My season lineup most certainly does not contain my 15 highest stat cards. A Epic Pro with a poor skill can be less valuable than an Epic with a great skill.Again, as the game stands now, if you have stats at 2500 across the board, and your opponent does too, what are you gonna do to COMPETE for that win?
Nothing. You check the game, and hope the game picks you for the win.

The ONLY means we have for "competition", is to hope we get a card that helps our team (either via Quick Game or buying packs).
If you're in the playoffs (the only time winning actually matters), you can't even do that.
Its sad that you have seemingly given up on knowing anything about how seasons work without doing some hardcore experimenting of your own rather than just using your "best cards and hoping for a win." There IS a method to this, but i still don't see how having the developer spell that out for us will make this a more competitive game.
But that said... you bring your best 3400 deck, I'll bring a 3300 deck, and let's lineup a season and test your theory that a random deck with 100 better stats can beat a carefully constructed lineup in a seven-game playoff before you totally concede that there's no element of strategy or competition to this game.
Moo.

Re: MyTeam Mobile Discussion
I agree, not a smart move on their part. But I am sure they purchased a lot of cards and do not completely understand the game. Shows how many people play this game that do not visit these forums.

Re: MyTeam Mobile Discussion
I have noticed a few players with odd stats in my new season as well. Very high offense and defense but low ball control an mental game. Etc. Is it possible they put a few bot players in there now?IGN- MastermindComment

Re: MyTeam Mobile Discussion
Depends what their goal is. Maybe they just like showing off a big number (has you talking about it for example). If he really has something like 4-6 of multiple legend pros, there is a non zero chance he has a bunch of Jordan's and rodmans and such as well.Comment

MyTeam Mobile Discussion
Wow! My thoughts exactly but I am looking for more evidence first. Especially since all the people I am showing are not in these forums nor have we ever come across them before. AND, suddenly I am playing other players with high stats, I'm not bragging but there just aren't many of us out there.

Re: MyTeam Mobile Discussion
It's possible. How long did you wait for your season again? If that is the case though that is something I would want transparency on from the devs.Comment
