Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
99% sure there's no half-spin.
Love the new passing system. It feels really satisfying using the off-ball control to bring Lewis out to the 3-point line, then release the y button and get him the ball with perfect timing.
I don't know why people are complaining about it. Just quickly tap the button if you want to make a normal direct pass. It only takes a few moments to get the hang of it.Last edited by fffffffff9; 09-15-2009, 04:06 AM.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
I don't know if it has been posted before.......
When making subs on the run it will be easier and faster to do it like in 2k series with the directions buttons toogling between the players instead of doing it with A button which is too slow.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
Play positional defense and rely on your help to save you if you get blown by. Try to funnel the driver into the helf defense by forcing him to his off-hand or into the middle of the floor if you have help waiting there. Use diagonal angles and don't overreact to every little move or change of direction because you will get burned. If you want to see how the momentum works, run and make sharp cuts with a defender... notice how it takes a little extra time to make a quick shift of momentum this year... that's what you're combatting when you get blown by. That's why you want to use as little lateral movement as possible and mostly go towards and away from the hoop at a diagonal.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
Yeah I've had the same problem. Seems like their defenders always react to even a slightly bad pass and get the steal while my players (whether controlled by me or the CPU) just don't have that same eye for the ball. Granted the CPU generally doesn't make as many bad passes as I do (damn you, broadcast cam), but it feels like they get the steal EVERY TIME where I might get lucky and get one myself once every 5 games and can't even remember my AI teamamtes getting one.
This goes for the post entry passes too -- they stick some in there that the defender could easily reach around and deflect (which the AI does to me somewhat regularly), but my team has never done that. I'm not normally controlling a post player when the entry pass is made, but with the rate the CPU manages to steal there, I should have seen my teammates do the same thing at least once.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
Yeah I agree I just made a post about the AI teammates on D. Its seems like the game forces you to make all the stops manually w/ little to no help from the CPU.
And on offense I feel the same way about passing, sometimes I'm afraid to run plays because I can't see if I have a good angle.
And I know that if I pass it, it doesn't matter if its Bynum in the lane he's picking it off and going coast to coast Lol.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
How do you do the "one hand in your face" defensive stance when guarding a ball handler?
I try RB but it seems so random.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
Does anyone know how to go behind-the-back? I havent been able to do or seen it yet.
Also: You can kinda do a half spin by using only the LS. You gotta be going a direction and then push the LS the opposite direction you're going and then quickly flick it back to the original direction. Im not sure if it's effective but it does kinda look like a half spin.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
Not sure if we're talking about the same thing, but if you tap the block button, you'll run up to them and contest without jumping, which generally involves a hand in the face. The RB does basically nothing but make sure you're guarding the right man... doesn't make defense any better at all as far as I can tell. I'm not sure there's a standard motionless "hand in the face" command, don't think so.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
No its actually not useless you can use it do defend passes this year. I used it to for the first time and I got a steal on a post entry pass.
What it does is make your player body an actual physical object the ball has pass through Lol. The CPU can't just pass it through you if you use it.
I'm still experimenting with it but this is one thing it does. I'm going to try it on a inbounds and see what happens.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
Yeah Mike said that using it to steal inbounds passes works better than using the steal button. I haven't had any success with it myself, but it's good to know that it has SOME use after being nothing other than a "blow by me, please" command for years in both games.
Really wish they'd use that for contesting or something.. like hold RS towards them and that will put a hand up in their face, left or right will guard against drives and passes to that side with the hand, and away will do the "I didn't touch him" pose for when you want to quasi-bother the shot but not risk a foul.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment
