Well just played my last game for a while. I can't bare it anymore post patch. It went from playing basketball to playing video games and I just can't take it anymore. Pro is too easy and the higher levels are CPU cheese. It irritates me to no end to spend all game defending Nate Robinson post ups/putbacks off off. rebounds (really, even against G. Oden), how'd he get the ball anyway? Then to make it worst C. Duhon dipsy-dos and dead-eye 3pt shooter L. Hughes. Now I know how to defend all these so they aren't often successful for the CPU but the fact that they try them is too much. Add that to poor shot clock utilization, terrible cameras (I am not watching a game on TV I am playing it so why not have a camera that gives me a better view WITH good depth perception), the fact that now instead of making good basketball plays I got to make sure I use stupid "lay-up solutions" every time just to make a lay-up, getting sucked into the offense, CPU agility through the roof, going into back down mode around picks... Maybe I should stop because this is becoming a patch bashing post for me! At any rate if the 2nd patch only fixes the bugs from the first patch and doesn't take the game back towards sim making the user AND CPU work for their offense I am officially done. I will consider all sports games down the Madden patch, I will keep at least on around just to play friends but it may be 2-3 years old and I want bother keeping up with it.

Re: Is anyone still playing this game?
This is my deal. I purchased both NBA games. As I did last year. In 2009, just didn't care so much for 2k9, so I ended just playing Live. By this time last year, I was done with Live and sold it on ebay. It just got old.
This year, I can't seen to put 2k down. To me, Live is great, but doesn't play as well as 2k. I've tried to commit myself to spending a few hours on Live...but I end up popping it in, and just popping it right out, after 30 minutes or so.
So, to the answer the question, I'm not playing Live. It was a bad investment on my part. But I will keep it through December to make sure that I don't want to switch.

Re: Is anyone still playing this game?
I am still playing the game. Dynamic Season is a great gimmick. I only play it when in real-life there is a game I want to change the outcome of. Usually if the Rockets or Hawks lose in real life, I re-play the game. Other than that, I don't touch the game. The game is too frustrating to play much more than that for me.
As someone said on this board, for all the realism they talk about, you have to "videogame it" to have success.Comment

Re: Is anyone still playing this game?
Sigh. I'm done playing this, at least on All-Star. The CPU is just too cheap.
I just had to turn it off when San Antonio shot...73.7%!! against me in the third quarter, and Parker was killing me from mid-range. I understand he can hit the medium distance shot every now and then, but all the time?
There's no defense on this difficulty level. Everything you do will be countered in some manner. Sag off and prevent the dribble drive, and you'll get burnt from long distance. Play tight D against shooters, and they will just draw cheap FTs or hit shots right above defenders' heads. Force the ball handler onto his weak hand and/or funnel him into the help D, and he'll just drive to the basket anyway and get FTs. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do on D.
I also hate the scripted runs on AS. It's so bad I'm actually afraid of getting a double digit lead, because once the CPU decides it's time to make a comeback, there's no stopping it.
No more All-Star level for me, thanks.Comment

Re: Is anyone still playing this game?
I'm actually thinking about picking this game up if I can find it cheap. NBA Live 10 for the PS3 is getting at least $40 on e-bay. Not too many on there right now other than high priced buy it now new games. You can probably get some decent money.
My sports gaming is really down right now and I thought I might pick a basketball game up. Played about 30 games on Live 09 before I got bored with it. Not a basketball guy anymore so not sure what I should do.Comment

Re: Is anyone still playing this game?
The question i'd like to know is how many of you have a winning record on all-star with no slider tweaks, because in dynamic season i've won a grand total of 3 games. I've tried everything but 9 out of 10 times i'm getting blown out because the unstoppable CPU runs. It seems that I can usually count on this happening when i make the game competitive and in the 3rd qrts i'm lucky to shot 20%.
so yeah i'm still playing just not having any fun with the game.Comment

Have you tried playing online? Human opponents make for the best match-ups.The question i'd like to know is how many of you have a winning record on all-star with no slider tweaks, because in dynamic season i've won a grand total of 3 games. Re: Is anyone still playing this game?
Yup i'm having the same problem with the CPU, actually I played the celtics vs hawks and the game started out with the hawks jumping out to a quick 10 pt lead but thanks to Ray Ray we were back in the game in a flash. In fact it was fun back and forth battle..... well until the 3rd qrt. Yup you guessed the 3rd qrt where the cpu seems to get some magical boost and a lid is put on the rim for me no matter where i shot from. This game was lost in the 3rd when i got outscored 31 to 17 with me shooting 17%. I wanted to just turn it off but i was curios to see what kind of fourth qrt i could muster up, the 4th i was shooting 50% and competing but due to that 3rd qrt the games was already decided.Sigh. I'm done playing this, at least on All-Star. The CPU is just too cheap.
