I won't be getting it.

I do appreciate Reanimator and co. explaining their new style in detail though and the extensive DEMO.

I believe they've very fairly helped people to make up their minds (Unlike LIVE 07 which was an ambush and like having your $$$ stolen).

For me, the generic CPU / generic players is just too much to accept in 2010.

Not going to get it until muuuuch later on, just can't drop 60$ on this. Its going to be a nice little one off game for me, but can't be the main course this year.

I still like the direction and I hope the higher ups allow the team to stay on course because I think they are going to have something nice in a couple of years if they stay with it. They have the foundation there on the controls and even the RTP (to a certain extent) so now they've got to put in a lot of work on the graphics and AI.

If I do get Elite 11 it will be used. I have a gut feeling that there will be plenty of used copies very shortly after release.

There's just no way. I've purchased the game every year for the past few years, along with the competing game and I've never been able to commit myself to Live (Elite) because it just wasn't as good. Still, I had a loyalty factor; been playing the game since Live 95.

Loyalty is now officially out the door. I think that the game can be good in maybe 3-4 years, but that puts it 3-4 years behind the competition.

I voted "Don't know yet".

On the 1 hand, 2K seems to be the best NBA game ever made in the traditional style; the definitive game before the world moves on to new directions. Yet, 2K controls suck. And for all the love 2K11 has for its animations, Elite looks better sometimes.

Example:

Walking animations when not "in-game" (like time outs, or end of quarter). Elite looks like the players are walking, 2K looks robotic and jerky, and changes in direction aren't smooth.

Elite face models might be matte but still looks slightly better than the 2K faces. Kobe looks like an alien in 2k11. And the facial animations in 2K are horrific.

Elite is more fun, but so rough that it is hard justifying a purchase.

Do I need an NBA game? If I HAVE to get a sports game, I can get FIFA. Or even NHL. All of which are excellent renditions of their respective genres.

So, I am still undecided. I know I am tempted by Elite in terms of fun, and tempted by 2k11 in terms of significance. But I am sold on neither.

I guess we'll see how the net codes are for these games, and how the game modes turn out.

I'm guessing the price will drop quickly for this game. I will scan the boards to read feedback on the 5 users vs. 5 users gameplay. If 2k's is still garbage and the reviews on the boards are positive for Elite I could see myself picking it up on Black Friday.

Fun is the bottom-line for me. I doubt this will happen, but if I try Elite online and it's more fun that's the game I'm playing.

I agree with the walking animations in 2k. If the player is just walking and not showing emotion like celebrating or disappointment they walk very robotic and awkward. That's a very minor area though. You know that's not what people care about animation-wise.

Kobe looks like an alien in 2k11. I can't believe they didn't fix him, but you can look at Elite and it's comical how some of their player faces look. There are many players in 2k that look exactly like their real life counter part. As you touched on 2k has a style where the players look like real people while Elite players look like cartoons.

I thought i was the only person who thought kobe looked like et a little on 2k.

But i also feel the same way. Both games are tempting and thats stopping me from going one way or another.

Call me crazy but after spending more time with the demo i think it can be turned into a nice run and gun game.

Now don't get me wrong it's not what you'd want out of a game all the time but reality is to make it fun IMO you have to turn it into an uptempo basketball game this year.

I think if you go in with the mindframe of playing it straight SIM your going to be highly upset like i was after playing the demo the 1st 2-3 games.

Then i realized it might not play SIM but there is a chance for it to be a very good uptempo game. Just pick up play faster pace game for those looking for alternatives this year in gameplay.

I figure of you keep guys out of the halfcourt sets as much as possible the less likely you'll see those bad animations taking place. So for me personally i'm going to turn it into a end to end fast pace game that caters to somewhat of arcade style of play this year.

I actually loved Live 06 my all time favorite game...

This year instead of trying to make it play SIM i'm going to edit it to play uptempo style. I'll have the other game for my SIM style experience since i play a lot vs the CPU

I'm going to tone down the verticals but tweak the fast break aspects of the game to make it play wide open style run and gun baby

I'm going D'Antoni 7 seconds or less all day in this lol.

Amazon.com has it for 59.95 with $10 towards future video game purchase, as well as a free 6 month subscription to Dime Magazine, and includes NBA Jam obviously.

I do buy NBA 2k11 every year, but at some point last year I was getting so frustrated with 2k10 online that I decided to buy Live 10 for 39.99 at the time, and it was definitely a nice alternative.
