Re: best player
you mean it SHOULD be for the most valuable. that damn award has been a damn popularity contest for years. its like homecoming king and queen. allen iverson or shaq should win it every year. tim duncan should from now on be viewed as a mvp if he can have the same sucess. with robinson he was able to get open shots and looks he may not get. with rasto in at the 5 now, we will see how mvp he is. robinson was still a defensive force even though he didnt do much point wise. shaq has won i believe ONE MVP. ONE FLIPPIN MVP AWARD. i hate the lakers with a passion but i keeps it real. and without iverson, the sixers have a lottery ball in that vacuum cleaner every year.Comment

Re: best player
Wrong place for this argument, but you don't know what you are talking about anyway. Robinson didn't get TD any open looks. Duncan was doubled all year and tripled in the playoffs and still had huge nights. He actually got better and better with each playoff game. If he didn't put up a single shot in any game he would stil dominate it with his rebounds, then we have his defense, his high assist totals finding open shots and some big scoring numbers too.
Throughout the second half of the season he would play hard for 2 or 3 qtrs, have about a triple double and get the team a huge lead and would barely play after that. If the games were close his numbers would have looked even better. And in my opinion, as much as I like the quality of players around him, they weren't close to the quality of Kobe. So there goes another argument altogether about a possible reason (there are others) Shaq doesn't get the award.
Without Robinson, Duncan is going to look better and be better.
Oh and to save myself and tie it in with the topic (hehe!) this is good enough for me to argue TD should be the highest rated (overall) in the games this year.Comment

Re: best player
Another thing that I remember is that EA makes the ratings more about position. Meaning Ray Allen may be rated higher at his position but it does mean he is better. A 90 guard is not comparable to a Center or PF in High 80s since its not the same position and their overall rating is affected higher or lower for different reasons. Gaurds being judged on Ball Handling Outside Shooting rather than Inside and Steals at a higher priority than say Rebounds and blocks and Vice Versa for PF and Centers. Of course there are universal ratings like Awareness and stamina I think if you look at it with this approach it is more easier to understand but than you have wonder why Ray would be so high compared to Rip Hamilton who should be at least a 80
The question that is more important is what is Duncan's rating compared to the rest of the PF/C if he is the highest rated Big man then it is accurate. Kobe Tmac ratings should be similar but Iverson ratings wise will suffer because of his lack of strength, Rebounding etc. No knock on him its just basic sense. When judging players judge them to comparable players TMac and Kobe AI vs Marbury (Scoring small Gaurds)Comment

Re: best player
the fact that the spurs got the #1 pick made lots of players in the nba uneasy knowing the spurs already had a bonafide allstar and superstar with d.r. now with duncan, not only did they have d.r., but now a possible 2nd with duncan. but also he was able to be groomed for the role heir apparent. If kg was on the spurs, he would be doin the same thing if not more. duncans not a better passer than kg, or a better on the ball defender than kg. he was just fortunate the ball stayed in the blower long enough to skip the celtics and come up as the spurs for the number 1 pick. its not his fault by no means, but lets not get carried away with all this tduncans the greatest thing since oxygen talk. we all know he benefitted more by having d.r than if he didnt. i dont want to hear bout how d.r. didnt play a lot of games due to injury and how duncan was the leader. thats all within the last 2-3 years. but his greatness was molded by being able to know he had 7'0 255 lbs behind him if he needed it. as well as knowing that coming into the league he would not be expected to be THE MAN. if he didnt got to the spurs, he would be kg. great player, but when you are surrounded by a hall of famer and one of the 50 greatest players, come on? are we even having this convo? its a no brainer.Comment

Re: best player
Tim is a great player no question about it but no he should not be the best player on the game you have to keep in mind these ratings on the "GAME" are based on all catagories..not just he's the mvp so he's the best for example duncan has great numbers on close range shots, dunking, rebounding etc...but his numbers are not as good on say shooting 3's and handles and things like that so his overall numbers will be below a KG for example(who in my opinion was the real mvp last year just as jason Kidd was the year before that) because kg puts up the same points, and rebound numbers as duncan has more assist, more shotting range and better handles etc so is duncan great sure should he be the best on the game nopeComment
