I noticed that as well - it's like the defender 'digs in'. I'm guessing it's so that you can't just start backing down a player at the 3pt line and take him all the way to the hole....it woulda been more realistic if he just flopped and you were called for a foul if you were doing that....however, if I get a mismatch and I'm anywhere near the basket I can back the defender inside of the nocharge zone with just the 2 big pushes and dunk on his a$$ anyhow.
