Re: Live \'04: The Subtle Things...

One thing that I thought was awesome occured during the offseason after my first year of Dynasty with the Golden State Warriors:

Popeye Jones(3rd string Power Forward) and Adonal Foyle(2nd string Center) were both bench players in the last year of their contract. When I tried to resign them, they "refused".

Thinking(as in previous versions of Live) that I could just adjust the # of years for the contract I was offering them to convince them to resign with me, I was AMAZED that even offering them a 7 year contract still could not convince them to re-sign with my team.

I'm sure had I given Popeye Jones more minutes(I usually played him 0 minutes unless either of my other 2 Power Forwards got injured) -or- given Adonal Foyle the starting Center job, 1 or the other would have resigned with my team.

Great Player Signing AI that EA put into their game this year!

they had that in inside drive last year if your player hurt an ankle or something and you put him back in he would limp around the whole time and if the injury was for 4 or 5 days he would limp the whole time...but we all know ea "borrows" but I am loving live this year

My advice would be to not try to back down players in the post immediately. Use the freestyle moves to face up, fake etc., then make your move. Or, you can just turn and shoot the ball. You're already in great position, and if you've got someone like Shaq or Malone or Duncan, you don't need to do a move that would cause the CPU to double. Just shoot from there. But don't hit the dunk button, just hit the jump shot button. They'll either do a quick turn around jumper, or a baby hook. The CPU seems to double most once you've put the ball on the floor. And if they double immediately, kick it out to the open shooters.

BTW, last year's Live had an up-and-under move (L1 + (tap) O, then O again). Is it still there????

Not sure if anyone mentioned this or not. When the computer dives for a loose ball, if he is controlling a headier(smart) player, they will call a timeout if they are headed out of bounds. If it is a second string player, he is more likely to slide right out of bounds with it.

As for the switching hand layup, I am not sure if it is the same as the MJ switch, but I have seen a number of players change hands while doing a layup.

One more suble thing I notice about this year live, well maybe not so subtle, is that I have not seen that annoying jumping out of bounds while throwing the ball animation from 2003. Players use to drive me crazy doing that when they were no where near going out of bounds.
