Re: More dumb *** reviewers pretending that they know Basketball

    I loved ID 2003, and I'm pretty sure I'll love ID 2004.

Reviews are for the masses, and that's the target audience for Gamespot, IGN, Game Informer, etc. The only places you can trust if you want to get an accurate view about a game and are a fan of its genre is an actual site DEDICATED to that genre.

I'm complaining about the score. If history is any indication, I won't gain any knoweledge from actually reading the review. It will consist of "ID is simply behind the times and with ESPN and Live making such big strides this year, save your money for those games". It'll also mention that there's no improvements like they did last year which was a total and utter lie. Since it will be a 2 sentence blurb up in the corner of the page that they usually save for games like Super Bubble Pop, there's probably not room to say anything else.

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

      What improvements have they made?

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

This year or last year? Last year they added Player Tendancy sliders which still aren't in any other BBall game. Although it was inexusable for them to have left out some of the basics in the first Inside Drive which I felt could justify the origanal's low score, I couldn't justify ID 2003's scores staying the same from the previous year when they finally added the global sliders (which still weren't in Live last year), and finally put in the basics for the franchise mode and create a player. They also toned down the arcadeness of the firts game. It also implemented the best camera angles to this date for any BBall game. Maybe those don't sound big on paper, but the gameplay was multiple times better in ID 2003 with those fixes and it should've been put on the same playing field as the big 2 in terms of ratings because of that.

If you want to know improvements to this year's game, then all you have to do is read Steve's hands on preview. It has fixed the 2 most glaring issues with the realistic gameplay by balancing the rebounding and foul calls. It has added new animations and improved the graphics. It has improved on what was already the best A.I. It has added new moves which don't screw up the balance of realistic gameplay. It has added a new touch passing scheme. Finally, this game will have the best online options of any Basketball game because it's going to be playable over XSN. Not only will it support leagues and tournaments, but you will also be able to do something that's long over-due in other online sports games which is take you coaching stratagies online without having to waste a few minutes while each person makes all their adjustments before the game.

It's all right though. I guess Inside Drive will just be some of us lucky hardcore Basketball fan's secret.

I haven't read the actual review since I just found this out from someone who posted the Game Informer scores however I just needed to vent about how unknowledgable these idiots are when it comes to reviewing true Sports sims. Basically their scores are weighted against advertisements and hype which ID has neither of. Exactly. I meant to mention Operation Sports but got side tracked. Just listening to Steve's hands on tells me that he understands the game of Basketball. No other reviewer goes in depth enough to tell you how the A.I. is or that the teams play to their tendancies probably because most reviewers don't know what the real life team tendancies are. Operation Sports demonstrates that they know their sh#t when it comes to sports games and they can back up their knowledge by breaking down the games like no one else does. Truthfully, if any of the big magazines ever outsourced their previews and reviews to Operation Sports, I would get a subscribtion because I would trust the credibility. Most of these other reviewers simply don't sound like they are able to take the time to do an in depth play test.

Regardless of whether or not I agree with Operation Sports scores, I can always trust to get accurate information in their write ups to make the decisions for myself. That's what a good game review should do.

Game Informer, the magazine that gives away great scores to bad games, scored Inside Drive a 6.5 To put that into perspective, that's about a 4.0 by any other publication's standards. I haven't read the actual review since I just found this out from someone who posted the Game Informer scores however I just needed to vent about how unknowledgable these idiots are when it comes to reviewing true Sports sims. Basically their scores are weighted against advertisements and hype which ID has neither of. I could put a monkey in a chair with some paper and crayola crayons in front of him and tell him to write a review and publish it and I think it would make more sense than Game Informers shi##y *** reviews.

How do you know how they judge a game? Maybe the game is just bad.

Well Onebadmutha is right and actually the only crediable web site for sports reviews is this one OS. Here check out OS's review of ID 2003 so I can only imagine ID 2004 will be just as good if not better. No we can you trust or rely on GI,EGM,Gamepro,IGN or gamespot.

Operation Sports demonstrates that they know their sh#t when it comes to sports games and they can back up their knowledge by breaking down the games like no one else does. yeah, most of the reviews for ID 2003 were utter crap. most of them just said the game was the same as last year. and i was like.. "you`ve got to be kidding me!"

i think last years NBA live 2003 has ruined basketball games, PERIOD! BB games are going to get less and less realistic because of live`s success. the easily subdued masses will just fall for the hype of arcadish "freestyle" gameplay and gamers that prefer a basketball sim will just have to suffer and play ID, which is not a bad thing but it would be nice to see games like ID on top!

it SUCKS that freestyle was introduced to the sports gaming world! instead of playing an actual game of basketball players are now hypnotically sucked into the jive *** streetball style of nba live. all we can do is hope that EA stops ruining basketball games and decides to make a sim but until people stop buying it, i doubt they will. and all of this is reflected in most of the basketball reviews that we see on the net. its a shame really.
