Die hard 2k user making the change this year

Hey guys I've been a die hard 2K fan since 2K5, before that use to love the NBA Live series. Currently I'm a 96 OVR Center in NBA 2K18 with a park record of 1600-600 and just been getting tired of the rep grind the past few years and looking for something different this year. I played NBA Live 18 for 9.95 and saw they have made improvements from the previous years but was already tied into 2K. I'm going to make the same character I had in this year 2k for live to see the difference in gameplay. So anyone that wants to play this year add me with message LIVE. psn - Le316King

You can create up to 5 “MyPlayer” (The One) career without wasting 3 hours of your cutscene life.

By the way, Live is about fun and it doesn’t highlight win-loss record.

It’s also playing on equal footing as everyone can get to 98 overall without paying $$$.

I'm a die hard 2K player from day 1 on Dreamcast. After 2K17 and 18 I'm going to Live 19. I enjoyed Live 18 and as far as I can tell Live 19 has shown enough so far for me to purchase. I'm not interested in 2K19.

I'm with you. I've been playing 2K since 2006 and i'm pretty done with it. It's great and all but it's the same thing every year. I feel like they've reached their peak in this generation of console and they're not growing from year to year. They just tweak the gameplay balances every year. Also, i'm sick of the focus on online play. I wanna play offline. And i want a deep franchise mode. I need something fresh, really hoping for great things from EA this year.

NBA Live 2001 was the original game i fell in love with back in the day, so it will be nice to get back on board with my roots, so to speak.

Can’t call yourself a die hard if you already writing 2k19 off. Die hards don’t give up.

I'm not writing off 2k19, just giving live a fair shot this year. I will still get 2k just not on the release date or grind like I did this year with it. It personally took away the fun from the game instead of just playing for me. Not a fan of the micro transactions either.

unless you are strictly playing the one modes, Live has shown nothing so far that proves it is superior to 2k at NBA basketball, plus I am always suspicious on anyone who starts off by saying I am a die hard 2k fan

I'm strictly an online player. I didn't look at much of what live has to offer, but its going back to my roots where it all started. I'll give live a fair shot, if i don't like it the worst comes to worst i buy 2k as well.

Nothing wrong with a little change of scenery. It's all fun and games...you have to switch it up every once in while. Hope you enjoy your Live experience.

I play LUT and Play Now, and I preferred Live 18. Spent the first several weeks going back and forth between Live and 2K.

Mainly, I feel like 2K is sluggish and instead of moving my player I feel like I’m just chaining animations together. Live just feels like I’m in control. 2K is clearly the deeper and more sim-like game, but I don’t find it near as fun.

This will be the first year I don’t buy both.

Re: Die hard 2k user making the change this year

I doubt it. As long as 19 is reasonably close to what 18 was, I don't see the reason.

Seriously, before I made this decision, I re-installed 2K18 and played a bit a couple of weeks ago, after I had been playing Live a ton. And, yeah, I didn't make it through a game.

2K has several features I love. 2K's play art is so much better done. I'm a basketball novice. I played baseball, football, and soccer. I've never played organized basketball, outside of some intramural. The play art really helps me play under more control. I still get out into transition and try to make stuff happen, but the play art helps me dial that back. And Live's play art is pretty terrible. I don't use it much.

2K also has classic teams, which might be my favorite feature. The time period I played the most videogame basketball was in the 90's, when I lived with a Knicks fanatic. We played the crap out of Live and NBA Jam. He played as the Knicks, and I chose any team he hated losing to. I love going back to those teams I used.

I am also a monumental Kevin Harlan fan. He was the radio voice for the Chiefs when I season tickets. He was absolutely awesome, and it was a treat to get to hear him be a homer for the team I was rooting for. Him and Lenny Dawson were perfect together. I love his basketball work, and he is great in 2K. It doesn't hurt that 2K has some secret sauce that makes commentary work so well.

But the more I played 2K, the more I hated the way controlling players felt. Maybe the controls are just too in-depth for me. But it just feels like a sluggish mess, and I have a hard time really feeling it. But with Live, I am pulling off alley oops, and other fantastic shots. It just feels right. And in the end, that is more important to me.

It helps that I live in St. Louis, so I don't have a home team. I lived in KC for awhile before the Kings left, but I have zero attachment to them. So 2K really did a nice job of brining me back to the NBA.

But, one thing I do is follow ex-Jayhawks around. Wiggins was fun, but man, Joel Embiid is ridiculous. That was probably what sealed the deal. Using Embiid in Live is about 100 times more fun than 2K, for me. That still checks out.

So, unless the Live devs just crap on the controls and feel of the game for 19, I'm in, and will enjoy it. I play Madden, The Show, NHL, and other games, too. I don't need two NBA games.

And looking back, I didn't need 2K last year. I would never try to sell Live as the better game. It's just the game I prefer to play.
