Re: 11/8-11/14 Game Discussion Thread
All of the other points I don't think were not too surprising. The 15-18 footers and 5 foot (in lane) from the basket...Like I said before. Millsap doesn't hit those 3's. Utah doesn't win. And I bet you this. If you could give me the same situation 100 times. I'm going to leave Paul Millsap to shoot whatever he wants from out there. Every single time.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

I think you're focusing on the wrong thing though jeebs. Yeah if he doesn't hit those threes then Utah doesn't win, but the fact that the Jazz got it done off the pick and roll and on the inside is the problem. It's not specifically about the win or the loss. Even if the Heat pulled out the win, the problem is as predicted they're interior defense. Utah shouldn't have been back in that game at all let alone close enough for those threes to matter.Comment

^^Are you serious?!!! LMAO!^^
The Heat played great defense on those possessions. Paul Millsap for 9 points on 3 pointers. Like I said anyone will let him shoot. The only thing I blame the Heat down the line there like you said. Was boxing out Millsap on that final play. Besides that....If you take a 3,5,7 game series. He is not going to do that again. I'm not saying he was lucky. But you got it twisted if your looking at this one game as image of the Heat.
What other bigs have been going off on Heat by the way? (Just asking)Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

I just took a look myself... The only names worth mentioning are Okafor, Jason Smith and now Paul Millsap (his front partner not worth mentioning)
edit:and if you want to add the Celtics you as well.Last edited by jeebs9; 11-10-2010, 12:10 PM.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: 11/8-11/14 Game Discussion Thread
But they aren't going to play the Jazz in a series. My point was that you were talking as if everything is right in Heatland and this was just a fluke of a game. You're right Paul isn't going to play like that if you play them 100 times but they're going to play teams with players that can perform like that 80-90 times out of 100. Anytime you blow a 20+ point lead in the NBA there's more of a problem there than just saying 'they played great D but one player erased the deficit.' I'm sorry but you just don't blow a lead that big playing great defense.^^Are you serious?!!! LMAO!^^

As for bigs, I didn't say there were bigs going off on them, but in they're losses thus far, interior defense has been the problem. Thus far the team's weakness is in the middle.Comment

Are you saying Okafor and Smith went off on them or just that they played against them? Because if Okafor and Jason Smith went off, you got a serious problem.NFL: Bills

Re: 11/8-11/14 Game Discussion Thread
When I said playing "great defense". I was talking about those 4 possessions at the end of the game. Even if they had lost a 50 point lead. Those 4 possessions were the game. And also about losing leads. Its the NBA. Not the NCAA or Highschool. I expect every NBA team to come back. I don't see why people think the other way. NBA teams are just too good to be held down for that long. Even if you have All Star team (which has been shown already). You get up big. Expect the other team to either make it close or have a come back.
Interior defense was already said from the jump would be a weakness of this team. But I wouldn't say it was the reason they lost last night. Paul Millsap hit 3 back to back to back three pointer to cut into a lead. It wasn't like Utah out rebounded them. 46-44....
The only thing I blame the Heat for was not boxing out on the last possession. That was the game right there.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: 11/8-11/14 Game Discussion Thread
Okafor is shooting some ridiculous stat of 70% or something like that this season but all this can be attributed to CP3 no? Okafor alone isn't having that night against the Heat. Interior defense is no doubt in fault but Okafor ain't getting those buckets without CP3.Comment

Re: 11/8-11/14 Game Discussion Thread
This is how I see it as well, all big games against the heat thus far can be linked to premier point guard play, I think containing those type of players will be the key to the Heat other then people panicking about their bigs. Rondo, Paul, and Dwill were all able to get to the lane at will and facilitate while you saw a team like the Magic become completely stifled because they lack an elite point on the outside that will break down and infiltrate the defense.
Once Bosh has to step up he's not strong enough to muscle his way back inside, but if he's straight up with someone his long arms make up for his strength deficiencies on the interior. So once that PG gets past the first tier it allows for huge games from the other teams bigs.
Using this Logic though I don't see the Heat having as much trouble with the Lakers or Magic but more trouble from the Celtics and Bulls as their key rivalries.

^^Totally agree with that^^....But thats why they play the games lol
You check the stats... before you said that?
Box score for the New Orleans Hornets vs. Miami Heat NBA game from November 5, 2010 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.
Add David West 5-12, Okafor 12-13, and Jason Smith 5-10, went for a combined 22-35. Hornets scored 50 Points in the Paint (to Heat 30).Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: 11/8-11/14 Game Discussion Thread
After some boredom at work this is what I've come up with. Through 8 games this is what the starting bigs are averaging against Miami:
C - 11 PPG 38/87 = 44%
PF - 16 PPG 47/98 = 48%
Obviously Milsap greatly influenced the PF stat with his career night. Before the Utah game the 4 spot was 28/70 while 11 PPG on 40%.Comment
