Re: How did he make the NBA

I love how this thread is just 12 pages of one guy stating he can beat a nba scrub and then five guys coming in and screaming: NO YOU CAN'T YOU *#*#*#*
That's not an insult, THAT is just a fact of life.

Yea, I'm being looked at by Rhode Island and CIF.

Thats it though, and I'm honestly just looking at going to CC.

I took back my statement. Let it go.

        I was just asking man...

I suggest you go play if you get the chance. You'll regret it later on if you don't.

A word of advice, keep practicing. If you're hanging out on Friday and Saturday nights, stop that, and get back in the gym and shoot 2000 jumpers. Got an NBA2K association? Kill it, and hit the weight room for 2 hours. Your girlfriend trying to come over for some cuddling? Blow her off and tell her you're gonna watch some film on NBA players.

Idk if you played AAU but that's definitely a big help, and as much as it matters about your game, your coaches have to help out too. I only had one season in high school with a real basketball coach, and he did so much for me but it was my season year and it was already too late. He got me newspaper interviews in the LA Times, I was on maxpreps consistently, scouts, a high school all-star game with some of the best unknown talents in Southern California, it was big. I look back now and wish I had went to a bigger high school, something like Taft High (Jordan Farmar, Larry Drew) or Westchester (Trevor Ariza, Amir Johnson) or even Fairfax , but more than anything I wish I could've put more work into the game. I was young and my school didn't care much for athletics, so I eventually didn't care much for athletics, I would leave practice as scheduled, play at home outside that's fine, but I mean like work work, weight room, staying after practice like 4 hours just still working, trying to get the next level, so if you're still in HS, I don't know if you'd take my advice, but I don't want you to have to be my age (22) knowing you could've done so much more cause you had and have the talent to play D1 basketball.

Don't let the dream die. It sounds like you know what it takes, and you can always walk on somewhere. 22 is too young to give up on trying to accomplish an athletic goal, even if it's just to prove something to yourself. You'll never regret trying.

Yeah I know, but I've moved on to music. I have quite a career in that field happening and it's working out well for me. A few more things have to happen and I should be good.

I feel like my school is the only school where, 5 vs 5, the best intramural players are better than the actual players on the team.

                  No joke.

                  @Nathan

I know the feeling bro. Try playing against those guys every day and STILL know they aren't good enough to make the league. It just puts it in perspective just how athletic and fundamentally sound those guys in the NBA really are.

Brian Scalabrine dominates four Boston bball amateurs by a combined score of 44-6:

Honestly after watching a couple of these guys make the game at least interesting against the much bigger and stronger Scal, all while shooting air balls lol, makes me a little more confident than I already was that I could do the same against the smaller guards that I mentioned.

When I saw Scal lick his fingers and rolled dude the ball to check up hahaha I knew it was a wrap.

While I'm not amongst those that doubt your ability, it honestly doesn't look like Scal is even trying in most of his offensive possessions. I'm not sure that in a 1-on-1 game with something other than a joke trophy on the line, he plays the same way. Who knows though?

Woul be nice to know what's the highest level you've played against and maybe dominated. Keep in mind that even "scrubs" like Dan Dickau were essentially superstars in college. They were top players against the best college competition.
And about the Scal-video. These guys weren't that bad. I think it's a good representation of above-average skilled non-pros.
Certainly good enough for most rec leagues.

And Scal, even though useless against the best in the world, in his mid-30s and out of shape is still more athletic than most guys you'll find outside of the pros. Dude was a star in college, and if you aren't used to high level ball, these guys are simply too skilled.
In the vid you can see that even a "stiff" like Scalabrine can pull off pretty much anything from pull-up 3s to post shakes wheneve he wants to.

The guy just played 3 guys straight and won a combined 44-6 and you say that's guys making the game interesting? lmao. Not to mention he's letting them hack the hell out of him and going about half speed. Keep your dream alive though.

You should read the article attached to this in the Off Topic thread. These are college level players.
