On draft day when they drafted barbosia i told myself what the hell are they doing? now it seems like a good pick for them. I doubt the pick next year will be a lottery pick because i have a feeling knicks will make it to the playoffs because the east is weak. Now if Isiah can get rid of kvh the knicks look better then ever.

Re: Starbury returns to NYC?!?
First thought = deal of the decade. Knicks get a superstar PG for 'nothing'.
A day later = hmmmmm...not as clear as first seemed. The Knicks basically have ZERO space to move for the next 5 years. They are stuck with this team, and it aint that good.
Marbury and Penny will carry them this year...but you have to worry how Marbury will react if they don't win big time in the future.
Like him or hate him...you can't dispute he is a superstar.
Like him or hate him...you can't dispute the guy is a selfish brat. Don't give me any of this crap about 'he's a nice guy'...he's not. He's a selfish brat.
Left the TWolves - and STILL crying about KG years later.
Blamed everyone EXCEPT himself for the Nets failing...and you DON'T publically back stab your team mates like he did AFTER he left no matter what. Have some balls son and leave the past behind.
Phoenix 2003/4 He ran Frank Johnson out of town the moment things went a little off.
I saw a quote where a Suns player said "it was clear some guys came to camp with one goal...to be an all star...and forgot about the team"...
No prizes for who they were talking about...
YES...he is talented big time.
YES...I love his game and hope he grows up and puts the Knicks back where they belong.
But this guy is a jerk.
He wrote "On my own" on his game shoes once...says it all.
He HAS to lead the Knicks...and true leaders don't quit on the weaker team members and back stab them every chance.Comment

Re: Starbury returns to NYC?!?
I have to agree with Monkey. I thought that Phoenix got destroyed with the trade at first. After reading all the details, it's New York who I think put themselves further away from winning it all even if they are closer to making the playoffs this year. Even though Marbury is a fantastic talent, he's never been the type of player who uplifts the play of his teammates. I believe the Knicks now make the playoffs for the next 3 years however they still aren't even close to being the type of team that people will take seriously for a Final's run. They are still handcuffed for the next 3 and 1/2 years untill after 2006/2007 season when Houston's contract comes off the books. Of course there's always more trades except that New York already gave up their 2 best prospects and 2 first round picks.
On the plus side, this team was in such shambles that getting Marbury finally brings some energy back to the organization. Maybe Marbury plays his best now that he back home and playing in the Eastern Conference. Maybe New York aquires more big name players with big contracts that teams want to salary dump in 3 years when those big New York contracts are close to expiring. In the meantime, the X-factor to all this is that Marbury may actually have a better attitude now that he's home. Maybe he takes it to the next level now that he's not playing in an area that he wants out of.
I think Phoenix did really well for themselves. They unload a giant contract that would handcuff them from making any big moves for years. They aquire two very good prospects at point guard and at center. They get two first round draft picks. They have cap room for this offseason to sign a top free agent because of this deal. On top of all this, they may not lose that much talent at point guard. Barbosa will now be able to develop faster while Milos is a highly rated prospect coming to their team next year. This also gives a chance for Stoudamire and Marion to become leaders and take larger roles in the team.Comment

Looking at the contracts on the hoopshype page, we are only stuck with team for this year and next. After that, 30 mil comes off the books, with another $30 mil the year after that.
