        I believe that Kevin McHale and others were paying or setting up to pay a large contract to Joe Smith under the table, so it wont count against salary cap. The league found out about it, and that was their punishment.

                    They tried to give him the max contract or sumthin and i think they got off better i would rather give up 1st round picks then give Smith that kinda cash
