Being an owner of a team, you are in corporate America. That kind of attire is not acceptable if you are in that kind of position. I wonder what would happen if I walked into a meeting dressed like that.

I don't have a problem with what he wore... It's all about marketing... In order to try and reach that demographic, you think they'd relate if he came in wearing a Brooks Brothers suit? Nah. I haven't seen pics of the PC, but I'm sure it was marketing related. Bob Johnson didn't make a fortune in the media by being dumb.

Most of the buying power does not come from that demographic though. If that is what they are trying to do they are going to fail. What is next, instead of selling draft beer, you can get it in a 40 oz. at the game.Comment

If the team was in Atlanta, New York, or Dallas, it wouldn't be bad. However, in Charlotte where most of the people buying the tickets are white bankers, you might want to dress up a tad.
Again, this is nitpicking as I bet not too many people watched the news conference or will see what he wore, but even Jay-Z wore some decent stuff when checking out the Nets games.Comment

Exactly, I live in Chicago and when I go to a Bulls game, 99% of the people are white. They are still in their suits from work. I would just like to add though that they don't go for the game. They are either taking someone out to sell something or just trying to network themselves.Comment

Re: Nelly = Part Owner of Bobcats
that's the way it will be with Charlotte, they are too young of a city, thus they don't have many fans that were born and raised there (I also believe that this is true with Atlanta's sport fans). Most of Charlotte's season tickets are bought my corporations and companies to give to employees or for clients. It's that way in many cities when it comes to major league sports nowadays.
Nelly's attire won't turn them off, as they will buy the tickets anyways due to the buzz and newness of the situation. However, I bet if he dressed the part and used his personality (which is his best asset), he could certainly become the image of the franchise although he only owns a minority stake.Comment
