SHould Joel Embiid be on the 2016-2017 All-Star team?

I'm a Charlotte Hornets fan so my only concern is trying to get Kemba and Batum into the ASG, but the more I watch of Embiid...he is an absolute freak of nature and he would shine in something like the ASG in my opinion. I'd love to see an ASG lineup with Giannis and Embiid out there potentially guarding Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan. Let's face it, the game is about entertainment (see voters trying to get Zaza Pachulia onto the All-Star starting lineup) and Embiid and Giannis are two of the most entertaining exciting players in the league.

As a die hard Sixers fan, I have to look at the overall likelihood of it happening.

Let's first review the obvious candidates likely to make the team.

    Jimmy Butler
    Giannis Antetokounmpo
    LeBron James
    DeMar DeRozan

The ones who should have a spot locked up

    Kemba Walker
    Isaiah Thomas
    Kyrie Irving
    John Wall
    Kyle Lowry

    Guys to consider

    Paul Millsap
    Kevin Love
    Joel Embiid
    Andre Drummond
    Kristaps Porzingis
    Jabari Parker

Guys who will likely get in on fan vote

    Dwayne Wade
    Carmelo Anthony

With that list compiled, it's hard to put Embiid in over bigs such as Porzingis or Drummond though it would be awesome to see.

Dude is on a minute restriction, putting up 28 11 and over 3 blocks per 36.. he's playing better than at least Porzingis and Millsap. On par with K-Love and Drummond, Bropez.. IMO

Especially given the dumpster fire organization he's stuck on. Plus, he's already got opposing crowd cheering for him, his personality is "star" status. Prototypical All Star.

I'd say yes, as a reserve.

Yep, he's the sole reason Philly's not currently at the bottom of the standings.

Plus I can't think of any other center in the East that has as much impact as he does.

Throw in some talent around him and watch out...

Interesting comment from a Heat fan.

I think he deserves it too, but I get the hesitation considering his 25 min/game limit, and never playing on back to backs. The good news is, he appears to have a VERY bright future ahead of him if he can stay healthy.

Definitely should be in. He might be the best defensive center in the East already.. Question is whether he should start or not.
