    Re: 2017 Offseason Thread

I don't blame KD or any player for wanting nothing to do with the super team label. The way media and fans throw shade towards stacked teams these days, I'd want nothing to do with the label either.

Lakers/Celtics play July 8th 8:30 in the Las Vegas Summer League. Could be our first look at Ball and Fultz on the same NBA court.

Edit - Full schedule for those interested. https://mobile.twitter.com/JCamerato...84269002199040

I heard Fultz is going to sit out Summer League because he doesn't want the Super Team label attached to him too.

Just saw the LA Times reporting Chris Paul will take meetings with the Rockets and Nuggets. Ain't no way in hell that dude signing in Denver.

I want so badly for someone to go there. I think I had mentioned to a friend of mine that I could see them as a landing place for Kyle Lowry if he decides to leave Toronto.

I'd be really interested to see CP3 and Harden play together; seems like it could be an awkward fit given how much they each like to control the ball.

Obviously, if you're a team like Denver and you have a chance to get someone like CP3, you'll take your chance.

On the other side of the coin(for logical purposes)what would that mean for Mudiay? Do you try to force him into a 2 guard/backup PG role or do you go ahead and move him for another piece or two?

You definitely move him. Weren't they already looking at moving him anyway considering he'd lost his starting job to Jameer Nelson and then minutes in his bench role to Jamal Murray? You got Gary Harris still to start at the 2, don't see how landing Paul wouldn't make him expendable.

I think Mudiay is pretty much done there with or without CP3.

                      True.

I've paid very little attention to Denver so I don't know who's in the doghouse or who's in their plans going forward or not as far as who's on their team.

Wonder why they've given up on him so soon? Malone not crazy about him going forward?

                        Hawks/Milsap News

Hawks owner Tony Ressler said Atlanta would “make every effort imaginable” to re-sign Paul Millsap.

And then the Hawks hired Travis Schlenk as general manager.

Schlenk, via Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

“We are going to make Paul our best offer,” Schlenk said this week. “Will he have better offers? I don’t know. Do we want to keep Paul? Sure. I said last week, if you are building a team with all the things I’ve said, Paul checks all those boxes. He’s a hard-worker. He’s a good guy. He’s high-character. Skilled. He does all that stuff. We’d like to have him. The reality is, he might get better offers than we can make him.”

The Hawks are in a pickle.

Locking a 32-year-old Millsap into a max contract, projected to be worth $205 million over five years ($41 million annually), isn’t ideal. Most players decline at that age, and Atlanta isn’t even ready to win more than a playoff or series during the front end of that deal.

But losing Millsap, projected for a max elsewhere of $152 million over four years ($38 million annually), would also bring complications. The Hawks aren’t positioned to replace him in the short-term, and Dwight Howard would be wasted on a team rebuilding around Dennis Schroder and Taurean Prince. The Atlanta market might not tolerate rebuilding, anyway.

There are different people on both sides of the negotiating table, but the Hawks just lost Al Horford after offer him only a little less than the full max. That gives Millsap room to leave and frame the organization as the problem rather than taking the brunt of the blame from Atlanta fans himself.

I don’t envy the Hawks. There’s no good answer here.

Of all the old guys in the league, which do people see playing still and which could retire? Nothing will top last year's retirement class, but this year still with big notables.

We know about Pierce already, and obviously not due to age, but Bosh surely will officially retire too right? Manu unknown right now I believe. Dirk I think might return? And Vince Carter undecided too, but would be just 6th guy to play at age 41 if he returns.

Biasedly I'm hoping Carter ends career with Raptors, but realistically I think Warriors should get him. Get him that ring, he ends career with team he got drafted by, and gets to play with Steph who he's known for almost 2 decades.

Hayward's not gonna sign in Boston to play with Blake Griffin, Al ****ing Horford, and a rookie point guard... 😂

Anymore, the Heat scare me more than Boston. Hayward wants to be the #1 guy, he'll have that in Miami. He wouldn't be losing too much going from Gobert to Whiteside, either.
