Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
Side note, it's funny to me that literally every above average player who has a chance to go somewhere has had Lakers and Knicks linked to them for the past 10 years now lol. I've always laughed it off as a joke, and we all have mocked it here, but it's odd that all of a sudden it actually feels like real possibilities now. Even before LeBron got to LAL it seemed like that shift of it actually happening felt real. Maybe Paul George started that idk. Maybe I'm just more gullible to the bait than I was.
Edit: I really don't see him going back to play with LeBron after how everything went down and having to listen to all that **** from the fans and media.. But NY, or even BK, seems like it could be a real possibility.Last edited by ojandpizza; 02-01-2019, 12:08 PM.Comment

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
Serious question though.. Does anyone think Kyrie is actually turned off a bit from Boston always being in trade rumors, and rumored to be giving up all these pieces for AD.. Seemed as if that was part of what eventually made him want to leave Cleveland. That's the NBA landscape anywhere you go these days, but maybe he doesn't want half his team traded for AD, or anyone. And maybe he doesn't like that his name is sometimes brought up just like when he was reportedly mad when the media was linking his name to Paul George.Comment

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
Of course it’s not a loss right now because he’s not playing, OJ lol.And he may end up healthy and see steady improvement and become that top 10 player people envision him to be, that will be great for Dallas or whoever he plays for at that point. I just don't think it's a huge loss for the Knicks as of right now, and if they are able to land a star with this CAP space I don't think it will be something people look back on as a horrible trade.
But anything short of KD and Kyrie or Kawhi(swap him out with one of the other 2)then yes, this will be viewed as a massive failure regardless of what happens in Dallas. They have a year and a half to convince him. The Knicks have 5-6 months to convince those guys and say “Hey, it’s not that bad here. Just ignore everything that happened over the last 20 years with our own ineptitude.”
You don’t make this trade and free up all this cap space just to go after Tobias Harris or Kris Middleton.
Now, if they made this move to basically go the Nets’ route and just focus on long term player development and not having to worry about having overpaid contracts on their books, then this is fine. But they need to admit that publicly otherwise...what’s their plan moving forward over the next few years?#RespectTheCultureComment

Oh I would love it(swap out NY with BK obviously).I still don't see it as a real possibility but I just read this comment on reddit:

They got gifted free high draft picks over the last 4-5 years and then got gifted a young, elite PG and all they have to show for it is a 7 game ECF series with Lebron?
The jokes would be coming nonstop.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
If he signs the QO and leaves, it's automatically a win for us just for getting the picks. They really have half a year, because if he takes the QO and hits the market unrestricted with the Mavs only able to give him like 5% extra, that's not a good look for them. If the Mavs end up in cap hell, we win. The way we lose is if he ends up a superstar that can carry a franchise because the way we're going right now and what we would've had to pay him, he would've had to be that guy.Of course it’s not a loss right now because he’s not playing, OJ lol.

The new front office has been saying since Perry got hired they were going to build through the draft, all of that has been set in stone for a while and not take shortcuts, whether they can be trusted or not, eh.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
I think the FO felt the above was not the case. If they strike out this summer--and this is easier said than done--Perry said they're not going to throw out stupid contracts and will continue to build for the future. If they avoid the Noah, Hardaway, and Lee type of contracts they've given out the last few years then we're still in good shape.
If they miss on all big FAs (which they will) and don't be stupid when it comes to signing second tier guys, they'll be the worst team in the NBA by a mile next year. Just keep tanking, keep getting high-end lottery picks, and keep your cap flexibility. The Knicks are fully in on The Process right now.
The cupboard isn't bare. Knox, Mitch, Frank, Trier, DS Jr, and six 1sts in the next four years. I'm not in love with all the assets but it's not like this is 2010 again. It's risky but they can have their cake and eat it too."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
See I don't think landing Tobias Harris and Khris Middleton would even be a loss here. Ideally they want to reach for bigger, but that's two guys playing at an all-star level for one guy playing at an all-star level before an ACL injury. They keep their pick, and add other picks. They keep Knox who since getting himself healthy and getting bigger minutes has played at an all-rookie team level fro them, keep Trier, keep Robinson. That's a pretty good group to start fresh with and win games while they develop.Of course it’s not a loss right now because he’s not playing, OJ lol.

Kemba and Middleton would be a great duo for them, especially if the draft landed them Zion. Kemba, Middleton, Knox, Zion, Robinson.Comment
