Re: OK, I'll start it...thoughts on McGrady?

I think McGrady has done a good job, not great, but the fact is, outside of Yao Ming, that roster is sorry. No depth/bench, no 3rd option. And to be brutally honest, Yao has underperformed. Not only that, Yao is not on the floor b/c he's constantly in foul trouble. If McGrady learns to create better shots for Yao, like easy buckets down low, by McGrady breaking down the defense, you'll see Yao's confidence flourish, and teams will be more cautious to double yao b/c then you gotta worry about Tmac more. that is what is gonna set Tmac over the top, if he can reclaim his aggresive slashing style that made him amazing, like 3 years ago when he scored about 27 per but on 45 or 46 %. If that happens, I'd take Houston as a #7 or #8 seed.

I've been told those are all excuses rb... I actually think McGrady is the only one besides Sura who once in awhile does it, gets Yao those passes where he's in good position to score.

They do need a real legit 3rd option, and to be honest JVG is just not the coach for these guys.

What he wants and what they have is not the same thing..

          Let me get this straight.

It wasn't TMac's fault last year when the Magic was the worst team in the League. He had no help. I can live with that, the team was bad, but their leader showed no commitment to the team and no heart..........

So he demands to get traded to HOUSTON and now......

It's not TMac's fault this year that the Rockets are a borderline playoff team. Yao is scrubbing and he has no help.

I can't live with that. TMac asked to go to Houston. He has an All Star in Yao Ming, a former All Star in Juwan Howard, and a host of good players in Maurice Taylor, Bob Sura, David Wesley, Dikembe Mutombo, and Jon Barry. That isn't exactly playing with nothing.

Yes he asked to be traded to Houston, but it was John Weisbrod who gave him an ultimatum to sign an extension early or be traded

You forget to add that Tmac carried a scrub team to the playoffs 3 straight years, and now all of a sudden you can't live with things happening in games you dont even watch. If you think rb is wrong then disprove his post.

I'd like to see you try.. and as I said rb there are those that say what you said is an excuse.

You know nothing about what I watch. I live in Houston, I watch most of the Rockets games. How are you going to say that I don't even watch. Don't assume things.

I have already disproved rb's post. He claims McGrady has no bench/depth. That couldn't be more false. I already told you who is on the Rockets team. The only position the Rockets are weak at is PG and personally, I'd love to have Sura on my team.

What you and rb want to do right now to make T Mac look better is to discredit everyone else on the Rockets team and blame them for their slow start. I'm not blaming T Mac, but he is a Rocket and their best player. I blame their struggles on them being a team newly constructed and not yet having time to gel. That's the main problem, but the Lakers also are a new team with 4 new starters, a new coach, a new system, 8 new players, yet you expect them to be better than the 18-14 that they are and make excuses for the Rockets being .500. Hyprocrisy at it's finest.

Former All-Star Juwan Howard? Just like Vin Baker was a former all-star.
                      Maurice "Rebounding isn't everything" Taylor?
Dikembe "The 457 year old talking oak tree" Mutumbo?

Granted... Bob Sura, David Wesley, and Jon Barry have their three-point moments... but it's basically Mac and Yao. Yao is playing extremely mediocre this year. If he ever steps up and starts funking on people, blocking shots, and rebounding... the Rockets will surely get into the playoffs. If they rely on TMac saving them EVERY game (a la the Spurs incident), they will still get in, but barely.

A rebounding, defense oriented PF and a true passing point guard, and the Rockets will be championship contenders.

I live in HOUSTON yall!! I've seen probably 25 of the Rockets games and a few in person. How many have YOU seen????

I already said, their problems lie in not having time to gel. Sure if you get an All Star at every position, everything will be gravy. But you can't have that. How much better of a PF do you want than a Taylor/Howard combo??? You want KG or Duncan?? LOL

I agree they need an upgrade at PG, but Sura is a triple double threat waiting to happen. He's more than suitable to play PG.

Like I said, you want to direct all criticism for their play to all the Rockets EXCEPT T Mac and that's just not right.

Here is the Rocket’s team broken down in my opinion all the way to the last man off the bench.

                              Ryan Bowen- Never plays

Scott Padgett- He is alright, a good shooter in a big man’s body, wouldn’t exactly call him a Dirk or even a Pat Garrity for that matter.

Reece Gaines- I don’t know what this guys problem is, but the very few minutes I’ve watched him play he shoots horrible shots and turns the ball over. I don’t know what it is, but this guy is a complete flop.

Andre Barrett- This guy is the exact opposite of Gaines, he was under-hyped and had to earn every minute he was put on the floor. This guy is fearless. He’ll take and make big shots, and set up his teammates beautifully. He’s a great point that pushes the ball. The only problem is, JVG barely plays him seeing as how Sura, Ward, Wesley, Barry and Mac are all guards who are above him on JVG’s depth chart.

Clarence Weatherspoon- Always injured and getting to be too old. Might excel better as a back-up 3, but instead he’s fighting w/ Padgett, mo, and ho for PT

Charlie Ward- Mediocre. Not really good at setting up teammates, he’ll occasionally hit open looks, and is a good defender, but that’s about it.

Dikembe Mutumbo- This guy is still a force, but his age has caught up to him. He’s a good defensive threat inside and great on the boards, he’s ok on offense, but his points are usually due to his hustle

Yao Ming- OVER-RATED. I said it. He’s Dikembe’s other half. A force on offense but a streaky defensive player. He’s soft as wet tissue, and more often than not is sitting the bench due to tic tac fouls. If some of dikembes hustle or aggressiveness could rub off on yao we’d be a lot better, but instead we only have half a center on the court at all times.

Mo and Ho- I’m putting them together because they have the exact same problem. They have nights where they are “on” and can give you 18-22 pts, but that’s a rarity. More often than not, they’ll get the ball at the top of the key and take a 16 ft jumper, or they’ll take it inside and try and post up against someone they have no chance of scoring on. These guys frustrate me more than overrated yao or any point guard problem. We have guys who can fill it up offensively; we need PF’s who can bang. It seems like all these guys wanna do is score and if they get the ball, they’ll usually shoot first rather than make the extra pass for a better shot.

Jon Barry- I was VERY happy w/ this steal from the rockets, I would’ve given up Lue for nothing, but instead we get a guy who is scrappy, can knock down shots, and is a blue collar hustle player. I have no problems w/ him coming off the bench.

David Wesley- He’s a good player, but I don’t like what we gave up for him. I like Jackson a lot better, he was a legit third option and one of the best role players in the league. Wesley Totally screws us up size wise. He’s 6-1! So in the Lakes game I was just thinking dear god, kobe is gonna shoot over him all day. If mac guards the two’s then Wesley has to guard small forwards, he screws up our man defense, and I think Jackson is better anyway.

Bob Sura- Someone called him a triple double threat on any given night???!! That’s a bit of a stretch but he’ll give you a solid 10-5-5 on a good night. I have no problems w/ Sura.

T-Mac- His main problem is that he’s not involved enough in the offense. His shots are usually his own creation. It’s him breaking defenders down. Or pulling up for a jumper. He creates so many shots for other’s yet he never gets easy shots himself. Tmac is too passive, he needs to demand the ball more and take over. Instead he stands to the side like a role player while the offense is ran through one of the PF’s. Then when we’re down 12, tmac finally decides ok, time to step up. And then he starts pulling up for jumpers and creating his own offense. If he’s hot, we win, if he’s cold, we lose bad. We shouldn’t live and die by him, but the fact is I just broke down the roster and its not very impressive. I think mac needs to be involved a lot more and a lot earlier. Not saying he should have the ball for 19 of the 24 seconds like kobe, but there are so many plays where he doesn’t even touch the ball.
