Nearly as obvious as the one the other night. Did the refs lose their vision plan this year, because I'll be glad to chip in a few bucks to help pay for a new one.Originally posted by bball_1523this one was an obvious goaltend.Comment

Right...Wallace/Wallace/Prince would kill Parrish/McHale/Bird.Originally posted by Yosemite DanThey could shoot because they were consistently getting wide open uncontested looks. Actually I could say the same about players back in the 80's would get eaten alive in today's game. Could you really see Kareem and McHale being nearly as effective in today's NBA. They would get banged up in the paint like rag dolls. It's like every other sport out there, the players are bigger, faster and stronger. If you pitted the Pistons of today against the Celtics of the 80's the Pistons would crush them.
How old are you, 12?
Take another peak at the Bird-Wilkins game; or just about ANY old Celtics game. Wide open uncontested looks my @ss.
As for the original poster - these just happen to be 2 of the best offensive & worst defensive teams in the league. That has been the case for years. What makes you think this game is a microcosm of the league?Comment

That basket is a curse. Anytime the opponent "blocks" a shot, the refs all of a sudden go blindOriginally posted by KDRELOL @ refs screwing the Kings

I don't agree with your assesment of the Mavs. They might not be great defensively but they have improved greatly this year. In case you didn't notice they rank in the top 10 in just about every major defensive category this year. They are in the top five in both steals and blocks this year and their perimeter defenders Howard and Daniels along with Dampier down low when they are all healthy ask Miami can be very good. Yes the Mavs still are an offensive team first but the difference between them this year and previous years is that they can get crucial stops when it counts.
Besides Seattle and Pheonix run up high scoring games yet their is no bitching but Dallas and Sacramento play their style and people want to complain about defense. Dallas is 32-16 and have the 3rd best road record in the NBA at 15-7 you don't win huge road games in SacTown or Miami if you can't play atleast some form of defense. In Dallas case they only need to stop you in spurts because they are good enough to overcome another teams offensive explosions during the course of any given game.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

here is how i see it:
86 celts 05 pistons
dj billups
competitive - no big advantage either side
ainge rip
ok- i give you this one
bird prince
daaaayyaaaam. celts in a landslide. bird would kill prince and rip out the pistons hearts and tell them where and how he would shoot the game winning shot during the timeout before he actually went out on the court and did it
mchale any big for the pistons
teams in the 80s lots of times would guard Mchale with their '5' man so not sure what pistons would try, but Mchale was unstoppable in the low post, body type not withstanding. he would flat out school the nba today on low post moves and b wallace would not stop him.
chief any other big
even. r wallce can score a little , and mcdyss. chief in 86 could score a little and could play at worst, even against themComment

Re: Is this SAC-DAL game pissing anyone else off?
basketball was just about unwatchable in the 90's. that was not good defense. that was ugly basketball where you were allowed to mug guys. they took away the finesse and the strategy and turned it into a two man game of boredom. who can forget those amazing heat knick barnburners? 70-69 with 34% shooting and both teams getting 30+ FT attempts. oh the memories.
the league screwed up when they marketed players only (jordan 24/7) and did not market the league and rivalries like the nfl and mlb. because of that now they have suffered with decilining national interest in their search for the next jordan.
they further blurred the lines of credibility over the end of the 90's with blatant superstar calls and questionable officiating. while there are die hard fans in certain cities and demographics, a vast majority of the nation dont care and consider the NBA to be the WWF. when players end up with broken hands and noses without getting the call, you have a problem.
they are doing what they need to do. go back to basketball they way it is supposed to be played. they are enabling the casual fan to see the things that make the game exciting. they are getting the fans to look at teams rather than simply a player. they need to develop fans of the franchise, not simply fans of the player.
there are some NBA fans, lakers.. kings...knicks and a few others, who will follow their team no matter who wears the jersey. but by and large, most do not have much of a following. in order for the league to really prosper again, they need to develop a form of the type of following the NFL has. the NFL draft is still more popular nationwide than the NBA playoffs.
unlike baseball and football, the nba does not have historic rivalries outside of celtics vs. lakers. and no historic does not mean the past five years of kings vs. lakers or anything of that nature, either. the other sports have devoted followings. the nba does not even come close to the loyalty of the other two.
dont discredit some of the talent that is playing the game now. when you watch some of these teams today like dallas, sac, seattle and phoenix, how are you supposed to gaurd them?
novitski can shoot on anyone under any circumstance. even when the kings forced him into a double team contested fade away, he made it.
i for one am looking forward to this evolution of the league because it may mean a more watchable form of basketball.Last edited by Radja; 02-12-2005, 11:20 AM.Comment
