I don't mind the idea of clinch engaging in close range for the single collar if both players are pushing forward.
Manually going for clinch from further distances should typically just engage a body clinch like in the video below and the various ways to do so would be great.

Maybe the Muay Thai clinch should only be easier to engage manually with specific fighters when the opponent is against the cage or you manually do it in close range.
But MT clinch has to be tuned to only be as dangerous as it is with fighters with actual MT background. Right now, everybody can end a fight in MT with about the same low volume of strikes (or now in UFC 3, still seriously rock you). I don't think having people no longer able to get dropped, but weakening the block so much so fast now really balanced it out. It's just that you shouldn't get dropped/rocked after just 1 or 2 non-consecutive MT strikes. Blocking MT strikes shouldn't be too hard until you received multiple MT strikes, in which case, I think the strikes can also be faster too. But then again, if it's made that only guys like Overeem or Silva could drop you as fast as it's setup now, I'd be fine with that.
We also need these elbows in the clinch...

I'd be nice if strikes against the cage looked more like this as well...

In general, going for the kill in clinch could be a bit more difficult to pull off, while some of the strikes could also be more rapid.
