I'm with you on that. Bars are cool for Street Fighter, but not for a game like UFC.

Is there a button for glove tap or is it automatic when you walk to the center of the ring? And how do you do high knees from side control?

When the fight starts press right on the d-pad.

Yeah, I figured it out a few minutes ago. Forgot all about trying the d-pad.

Next question. Which method is most effective when trying to submit or get out of a submission? Rotating the right stick, button mashing, or if you're Chuck hitting X repeatedly to "power punch" your way out?

I would be interested in playing around online with some of you to improve my game. This game will definitely see more online multiplayer from me.

I'm up to start practicing on the 19th as well. Anyone who wants to go ahead and add me to your friends list now and we'll get it going in a few weeks.

Seems to me (as mentioned in the tutorial) that power fighters like Chuck are better off on offense and defense tapping buttons while finesse/ground guys like Rua are better off with the stick. It certainly seems that way -- I was able to submit Rua by mashing buttons, but Chuck always busts out if I try that to him with Rua -- the only time I submitted Chuck on Advanced it was rotating the stick.

That's what I was thinking, just needed it comfirmed. If you're using Chuck is there a certain button to use or does it matter? For instance when Rua's going for a leg lock I keep hitting X to hit him while he's doing it. Would it still work if I was hitting A?

Haha, can't tell you... I mash all of them madly. Seemed from the tutorial that it didn't matter which buttons you hit so long as you're hitting them fast as hell.

I submitted Chuck on advanced by mashing the buttons. Got him with a north/south choke.

I think the buttons/stick thing only matters on defense because there's different probabilities and outcomes depending on which one you try.

On offense, I think you just go with whatever you can do quickest.

Oh, and I put this in the demo impressions, but it's buried by now. When you throw a strike, you can use RB (and presumably RT) to feint the strike. More useful against human opponents than the CPU.

Not sure if it works on takedown attempts or not.

I'm really glad they have that in. Especially for head kicks, sometimes i take a step and don't want to throw it, so that works really well.

Dakkon, thanks for that powerbomb tip - i didn't think chuck would have that and maybe he shouldn't - it's fun as hell, but it might take away the individuality of someone like rampage.

Has anyone pulled off a submission in early rounds or without brutalizing the guy's body/legs for 10 minutes? Seems like they've gotta be at that tired slumped-over state to have the submissions work on anything but beginner.

That's the one area I hope they adjust slightly for the retail -- seems like there's no way to submit someone unless their stamina is shot, and even then, it's tough. I wish they accounted for the "surprise factor" of submissions -- like if you nail someone with a flying armbar out of nowhere, that should be harder to break than the obvious rear naked choke when you have their back, etc... submissions that come out of counters should be very tough to break.
