It looks like the Red Sox run is over for a while.
After going to the World Series the past 2 season (winning 1), a high payroll has finally gotten the better of the club. The team has operated with a payroll that exceded their income for too long and have decided to rebuild for the future.
It does look bright while looking at the bullpen. The rotation is another story, but it looks like the BoSox are doing things the right way.
Interesting Note: MR Gibson Munoz was discoverd by my scout last year. I recognized the potential, however Gibson felt that he would be better suited to step into a situation where he could move up quickly. Looks like his decision has paid off.Comment

Well, I guess it's good to see that life imitates art. Or, in this case, virtual Steinbrenner immitates King George.
Yes, the Yankees have both Blalock AND Ichiro. Yes, the Yankees have the highest payroll in the MLB. And, no, the Yankees have not won the WS, only making the big series once while getting beat by my Cardinals.
But, it looks as if the Yanks are in good hands. Their only 'weakness' is their starting pitching, but I'm sure there are more than a handfull of teams that would be more than happy with that bunch of guys.
But, I'm sure George has got something up his sleve for the offseason.

The Oakland A's remain a mystery to the rest of the league. Middle-of-the-road payroll and well-above-average product.
Oakland has been an annual contenter in an incredibly tight division year after year.
Looks like they are in good shape and will be one of the more consistantly good teams in the league.Comment

The Angels have been up and down year after year. This appears to be an up year for the club.
I'm not sure if they've got the horses to hold off the A's this year, but they might be able to grab the wild card.
Then again, no one thought the Angels would win the World Series in 2002, so, to quote Rudy Tomjanovich, "Never underestimate the heart of a champion!" And the fact that Anaheim has pretty much kept the glue (Erstad, Percival, Glaud, Speizio) together from that squad, and added some quality guys that know how to win, you have to feel they know what it takes to get there.Comment
