Phoenix, AZ (AP) – The Arizona Diamondbacks continued their hot play as of late with a 5-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday evening at Chase Field. Jhonny Peralta's two run double in the bottom of the eighth sealed the victory, Arizona's eighth in their last 11.
The Dbacks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third on back-to-back doubles from Collin Cowgill and Justin Upton. Upton would then advance to third on a ground out by Stephen Drew, but was forced to leave the game with a lower body injury.
The Rockies would respond quickly when Matt Murton doubled home Chris Iannetta and Clint Barmes.
The teams would trade runs on the fifth and six innings. The Dbacks took the lead when Collin Cowgill singled home Max Scherzer in the bottom of the fifth. Chris Iannetta then homered off of Scherzer in the top of the sixth to tie it up.
The teams remained tied until the bottom of the eighth when Jhonny Peralta doubled home Stephen Drew and Mark Reynolds with two outs.
Carlos Marmol came on in the ninth to pick up his 27th save on the season. The win went to Scott Schoeneweis (2-2) who pitched the eighth inning. Taylor Bucholz (3-2) picked up the loss for the Rockies.
