    Re: Lipscomb Lecagy (CH 2K5)

Nashville (AP)- Lispcomb, just in its second year in D-1 ball, got off to a rough start, falling to the Golden Gophers of Minnesota, 86-59 in Minneapolis. This game was a see-saw battle in the early going but Minnesota was able to stretch the lead out to 11 before the Bisons making a quick run before half, capped off by a buzzer beater three before half, making it 36-33 Gophers. Even through halfway in the second half, it was still within 11 to 13 points before Minnesota busted the gates. Multiple charging calls in the second half were no help either as the Bisons had three players foul out before the end of the contest. Said Fisk "I did all that I could do tonight, it just wasn't enough. Minnesota was bigger and stronger and faster than us, they are a great ball club". Fisk lead the team in scoring with 16 points.

Game 2: Savannah State @ Lipscomb

Nashville (AP)- After a loss in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, the perfect cure was a home game vs Independent Savannah State, right? Well, that wasn't the case as Savannah State defeated Lipscomb 84-70. SSU lead or tied LU throughout the night. Savannah State had built a 12 point lead before it got cut down to 2 and was able to bump it up to 8 by half. Donald Carson, lead all scorers with 28 points, shot 55% from the field. Second half, SG J. Poindexter started taking it to the hoops by going baseline drawing foul after foul. However, halfway through the second half, he drew his 4th foul and had to sit. Poindexter said "I knew if I could take it baseline, I'd be able to draw the foul, and get some easy points. They dominated us all game basically and we had no answer for Carson and Reddick." The Bisons need to start rebounding better, especially on the offense boards or this is going to be a long season. Lipscomb went 25 of 43 from the stripe, better than last game but still not where they need to be. Bisons have the Troy Trojans up next, the first Atlantic Sun Conference game of the season.

Nashville (AP) - Domination. Embarassment. Disgust. All words you could describe after that pitiful performance in Troy AL. Final, Troy 99 Lipscomb 63. Troy couldn't be stopped, nothing else really to say about it. The Bisons three pointers were a bismal 1 of 13. Free throws, a sad 58%. The only bright spot was LU out-rebound Troy 35 to 33. Troy shot an impressive 7 of 14 from beyond the arc, with leading scorer Mathis 3 of 6 from three land. Next up, a rematch with Savannah State, this time, on the road.

                        Game 2:Lipscomb @ Savannah State

Nashville (AP) -Painful. Heartbreaking. Oh so close. Disappointment. All words you could describe about this game that took place in Savannah GA. After jumping out to a 7-0 early lead, the Bison were able to lead anywhere from 4-8 points throughout the 1st half and most of the 2nd half, and never reliquinshed it until about 4 minutes left in the game when Savannah State, who was without Donald Carson, who happen to light the Bison for 28 points in the first meeting, took the lead, but never lead by more than 2. In the waning minute of the game, it was a see-saw battle, each shot taken being huge. Needless to say, free throws were the ultimate killer in this game as Lipscomb(0-4) shot 3-8 from the line down the stretch, including Stephan Bolt who went 0-4 in critical foul shots in the final 45 seconds. Bolt said "I feel like I costed this team the game, I should've made the foul shots and I didn't come through." He wasn't the only one who choked in the end. With six seconds left, Savannah State(3-5) leading 67-65 after rebounding another missed SSU free throw, open was Eddie Ard on the other end of the court, took the pass when up strong to the hoop with under a second left and got fouled with .7 seconds left. First free throw, good. All that was needed was one more free throw and the game would be sent to OT. After bouncing around the rim, it falls out and SSU rebounds and gets fouled and ends with a 68-66 heartbreaking loss to the Tigers. Good things to take away from this game was that the field goal percentage was much better, over 50%, for the first time all season and lots of good ball movement. Obviously, free throws were the killer for the Bisons, even though the Tigers actually shot worse from the line(20 of 43, 47%)

Lipscomb got the lead out to 15 points in the second half, after being down 12, but Nicholls State was able to get the lead back down to 5 before Eddie Ard hit a three in the corner to bust the lead back to 8 and would be the final time NSU ever got close.
