USF head coach Malcolm Francois has fired the entire defensive coaching staff after just one season, including defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan.
Francois, who has been under much scrutiny after allegations of emotionally abusing players, doesn't appear to be going anywhere. Bresnahan was a respected hire last season, having spent the 2012 season with the Sacramento Mountain Lions as their defensive coordinator and having NFL experience before that. Francois and Bresnahan crossed paths in 2004 when Francois was a player on the Cincinnati Bengals and Bresnahan was a defensive assistant.
The Bulls defense ranked sixth in the American Conference in points but was second to least in passing defense and worst in scoring defense. Rumored replacements include former Indiana defensive coordinator Doug Mallory, Colorado State defensive coordinator Marty English and Duke defensive coordinator Jim Knowels. Francois has reportedly already met with all three and a decision is imminent.
