2k needs its own maximum football 🏈

    Memo to 2k
The NFL is not going to cheat on their money πŸ’° maker
So I don't want to hear 2k is waiting for 2030 to bid
Knowing EA history they will renew the license in 2029
And not give 2k a chance to bid
    That's what history shows

    So here's an idea πŸ’‘

The world was not ready for 2k8
But as you can see with your own eyes with all these independent football games
    We are ready now
    So why not capitalize
    On this situation πŸ™

    Just make a pro mode
    College mode
    Put a myplayer in

Name the title of the game:
    "Weekend Football" 2k28🏈

Make a 70's-2025's eras of football
Each era has their own play style
70's -80's was the era of no holds bar hard hitting

90's was the era of running Backs

2020's the era of the duel threat QB's

That's description should show when you open up each era

    The modes would be called
    Sunday night football=pro mode
    Saturday night football=college mode

Or just slap a retired Hall of Famer name of the title like Joe Montana ect....

    You do that
    Don't worry about the license

Just make a dope deep game
And us Creators will do the restπŸ˜‰

Imagine the gameplay was a modern version of 2k8πŸ‘€
The blocking alone is a thing of beauty 😍
Madden and college blocking I feel like playing against a bunch of max Crosby on one team getting through to you getting sack because your blocker can't hold a block long enough like he has to go on a restroom break🀦

I know this is all just throwing ideas out, but any 2K game (even an imaginary one) would absolutely think about the competitive MyPlayer experience first. They would not build a game in 2025, 2026, or whenever that isn't centered around making money on MyPlayer.

Figure out how a MyPlayer would work with the rest of your ideas and you'll be good.

just give US and updated version APF with a franchise mode, next gen graphics. keep the gold, bronze, platinum feature.

This would have been the year to release an updated version of APF, might have made the NFL rethink extending its licensing deal with EA.

I'm starting to get the feeling that it's up to us as a community of football gamers.

We've heard the same line for years: "No one will buy a football game without licensing." And... maybe they're right. Between Maximum Football, Axis Football, and Football Simulator, none of them alone has matched the quality nor garnered the sales. They're trying, but ultimately, they have the same goal: release a product to make money. I can't blame them, that's business. But how long will any one of them last as companies pouring money into a pet project doomed to diminishing returns?

However, I see all the BAD_ALs and LostSouLs and 2kRewriteHistorys and others out here doing amazing things with this game. I see how big the modding community has become since I bought this game for $20 on release day. I see how deft the tools are, and how adept the artists are who make all these jerseys and stadiums. At some point, you've gotta wonder whether the modding community could just organize and embark on a years-long journey to do it themselves. A lot of these guys have been modding 2k for two decades already. What's another few years to invest that same time into building a football game by the sim community, for the sim community?

It’s one thing to mod a game, it’s another thing to actually build and code one from scratch. The best bet is to take an older game and just mod the hell out of it and have it be free to play. Good luck getting approval from 2k or the other developers, but if it was just available as a mod for those games without actually selling anything, it could work.

I mean... that's already where we are. It's not a bad thing-- there's tons of great work out there, enough for countless hours of fun in 2k5 alone; much more if you include Madden 08/12/25th. And we have six more years to settle for this while we pray for the NFL to expand the license and pray for a competent dev company to introduce a competitive brand or two.

Couldn't agree more. Yet it can be done, and has been done several times over in the last few years. They were full-time companies, versus relying on the free time of people with day jobs, so obviously this isn't happening anytime soon. It may not be probable at all; I just refuse to call it impossible.

We have 4 options over the next 6 years:
                  1) Play Madden and hope they return to form (unlikely)
                  2) Play alternatives and hope they improve (maybe)
                  3) Play retro games and hope to play a new non-Madden NFL game one day <-- this is my path for now
                  4) Start organizing <-- the best, but least likely option

Until then, I'll keep trying to make sense of the incomplete source for NFL Blitz 2000 on Github, and I'll wish for a few very optimistic programmers to start asking "Why not?", too.
